Do you have scrubs that you no longer wear? ACMS is collecting new or gently used scrubs during the month of December. These scrubs will go directly to Dress for Success of Pittsburgh. Clients can visit the Dress for Success boutique and pick up the items they need so they are prepared and confident going into work every day.

ACMS Board of Directors Hosts Final Meeting of 2023

The ACMS Board of Directors met for the final time in 2023 on Tuesday, Dec. 5th. The meeting included a full agenda to wrap up a productive year. Members can look forward to a year-in-review summary in the December Bulletin. Additionally, several board members were honored for their service as they either end their terms or move into new roles. We would like to thank Adele Towers, MD; Amelia Pare, MD; and Bruce MacLeod, MD for their service to the Board of Directors. Their terms will expire on Dec. 31, 2023.

The Board acknowledged outgoing Board Chair, Peter G. Ellis, MD. Dr. Ellis served as President in 2022 and Board Chair in 2023. We look forward to having him continue to serve on the ACMS Foundation Board of Trustees in 2024 and 2025. Matthew B. Straka, MD, completed his term as ACMS President and was acknowledged for his service. In the ceremonial "passing of the gavel," Dr. Straka prepares to begin his term as Chair of the Board of Directors in 2024. And finally, Raymond E. Pontzer, MD, gave remarks on his goals and ideas for 2024 as he prepares to begin his role as President of the ACMS starting on January 1, 2024.

On behalf of the staff, the Executive Committee, and the membership, we thank our 2023 Board of Directors and officers for all of their hard work over the past year.

Are You Prepared to Comply with CMS’ SDOH Requirements?

Tomorrow's virtual event can help you understand the new CMS mandate.

Starting January 2024, hospitals must comply with CMS's mandate to collect Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) data for inpatient services. SDOHPro, designed for this purpose, offers an innovative solution to meet CMS requirements. Attend a virtual demonstration to understand how it ensures compliance and protects your organization. Beyond fulfilling CMS obligations, the main objective is systematic collection of patient-level social risk factors. This facilitates collaboration between healthcare providers and community organizations to address issues like transportation, food insecurity, utility challenges, housing instability, and interpersonal safety. ACMS Foundation Annual Report

The ACMS Foundation annual report has just been released! It is now available online, and all members will receive a copy in the mail in the coming weeks. As we approach the end of 2023, we'd love for our members to consider a year-end donation to the ACMS Foundation.

Two of our most notorious members, Dr. Goodman and Dr. Clough make a friendly wager each year. The "loser" of the Ohio State vs. Michigan football game has to donate to the ACMS Foundation. Now that's a fun way to get creative and give back! Thank you Dr. Goodman & Dr. Clough!
