PRESIDENT & CEO MESSAGE
Louisiana Engineering Industry Gubernatorial Forum
ACECL, LES, and ASCE will host a gubernatorial candidate forum at City Club Baton Rouge this Monday with five of the six major candidates will be participating. As early voting kicks off tomorrow, the timing could not be better!
Since January, the candidates have participated in numerous forums and debates that have primarily covered topics like crime, education, and the economy. One topic that has received much less attention in this campaign, compared to the previous two, is infrastructure funding. in 2015 and 2019, infrastructure funding was top of the list when it came to pressing policy issues. This year it has taken somewhat of a backseat.
That is why our forum will provide the candidates an opportunity to address and share their positions on the specific issues that are most important to the engineering industry. Starting with infrastructure funding the policy topics to be covered at the forum include:
- Transportation/Infrastructure Funding
- Professional Licensure for Engineers
- Qualification-Based Selection (QBS)
- Workforce Development
The host organizations drafted a policy platform document to help educate the candidates on the aforementioned topics that are so important to us. Questions for the candidates will come from the platform that has been shared with them in advance of the event to assist in their preparation. A copy of the policy platform can be accessed by clicking the button below.

In-person seats for the forum have sold out but members and non-members can still participate by registering as a virtual attendee. Virtual attendees will also receive the 3 PDHs being offered through the event. To register simply click on the button below. | |

2023 LOUISIANA SALARY SURVEY
Reminder: Completed Salary and Benefits Surveys are due in just two weeks. Several firms have already submitted completed surveys, but more firm participation means more viable and valuable data.
The surveys will cover topics specific to the salaries and benefits of engineering and associated positions in Louisiana. This year's study will take a deeper dive into benefit programs and remote work schedules.
The final report will serve as an invaluable resource for your recruiting and retention efforts by providing state-specific salary and benefits data. All information collected will remain confidential and will reside with the independent consulting firm handling data collection. The final survey report will be available this fall.
All those completing the survey will receive the final report free of charge. Those not participating will be able to purchase the final report for a fee of $400.
Click on the link below to complete the surveys and ensure your firm stays ahead of the game in today's competitive job market! Please read the instructions first to understand how to properly complete the form and where to send completed documents.
Completed surveys must be received by 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2023.
Surveys should be emailed to Cynthia Thomas (CThomas@TriStrategies.com) who is compiling data and drafting the report for ACEC Louisiana.

Please find attached the Nomination Form, along with the criteria, to apply for the 2023 Robby Cangelosi Award. As we had a great number of applications submitted last year, we encourage those applicants to once again apply this year, and also request that firm principals encourage our emerging engineering leaders to apply.

CALL FOR 2023 QBS CHAMPION AWARD
Deadline: October 13, 2023
The American Council of Engineering Companies of Louisiana (ACECL) seeks to recognize public agencies that make exemplary use of the Qualifications-Based Selection (QBS) process at the state and local levels. The QBS Award Champion award recipients demonstrate the importance of selecting the most qualified design professionals. They serve as examples of how well the QBS process works, and they assist ACEC of Louisiana in promoting the practice of QBS to procure all forms of engineering services.
Nomination and Selection Process: Any state or local agency in the State of Louisiana may be nominated by an ACEC of Louisiana member through its ACECL Chapter. Before submitting the nomination of a local agency for the QBS Award, the ACEC of Louisiana member should notify the agency head and ensure the agency is interested in being publicly recognized. In order to nominate an agency, the ACEC Louisiana member must complete the nomination form. Completed forms and any supporting documents should be mailed or e-mailed to the ACEC of Louisiana office. After receiving the documents, ACEC of Louisiana staff will coordinate with the local Chapter President to obtain endorsement.
All Chapter endorsed nomination submittals will be forwarded to the ACEC of Louisiana Board of Governors, who will complete assessment and vote for the QBS Award Champion winner(s).
Deadline for submittal: October 13, 2023.
Recognition:
