I am excited to announce that ACECL has launched the salary and benefits surveys for our 2023 ACECL Salary Study. We were initially going to wait one more year to let the job market level out some more, but it became clear that our members wanted updated salary data yesterday!
As you will see, the salary survey looks very similar to the 2021 survey with the addition of one position, Project Coordinator. The benefits survey, however, will look much different as this is the area where most firms have become more innovative in an effort to remain competitive when salary increases were simply no longer an option.
Additionally, we added questions about remote and hybrid work schedules. Remote work schedules seem to be the great new paradox for engineering firms. While the questions do not drill down on remote work productivity, workplace culture, employee morale, etc., the study will paint a picture of how many firms are offering remote work options and how they tailor those options to balance the needs of their employees and their business.
Another unique benefit of the ACECL Salary Study is that it consists of Louisiana-specific data that is further broken down into the following four geographical areas:
- Greater Baton Rouge Area
- Southwest Louisiana (Lafayette and Lake Charles Regions)
- North Louisiana (Alexandria, Monroe and Shreveport Regions)
- Greater New Orleans Area
In 2021, 28 firms with 40 offices in the state completed surveys reporting on 918 positions. This year, my goal is to have at least 35 firms complete surveys. Responding firms will receive the final salary study at no charge whereas those firms who do not respond will be charged a fee for a copy of the report. All submitted information will remain confidential and will only be held by the consultant compiling the data.
