ACCG 2022 Legislative Leadership Conference Takes Place September 28th - 30th!

This year’s conference will take place at the Jekyll Island Convention Center in Glynn County. Join ACCG, state leaders, and county officials for the association’s fall policy conference as local leaders prepare for the upcoming session of the Georgia General Assembly by voting on the 2023 ACCG Proposed Policy Agenda and Legislative Priorities. Make sure your county’s voice is heard by attending this conference! Please contact your County Clerk to get registered.

ACCG Policy Council Proposes 2023 Policy Agenda & Legislative Priorities

The ACCG Policy Council voted on September 8, 2022, to recommend the attached proposed Policy Agenda which can be viewed here. Please review the proposed Policy Agenda prior to the Legislative Leadership Conference. If you have questions about the Policy Agenda, please contact ACCG’s Policy Staff. To make an amendment to any of the Policy Objectives within the proposed Policy Agenda, you will need to complete an amendment form and get signatures from four other commissioners – each from a different county. The amendment form can be found here and amendment requirements are included below.

Amendment Requirements
Amendments to the Policy Agenda and resolutions may be proposed from the Membership under the following conditions: 
  1. Proposed amendments or resolutions must be in writing on an ACCG Amendment Form;
  2. Proposed amendments or resolutions must be co-signed by a total of five (5) commissioners that are each from a different county in good standing; and
  3. Completed, proposed amendments or resolutions must be submitted to President Melissa Hughes (melissa.hughes@tiftcounty.org) prior to the start of the Business Session, which is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the Jekyll Island Convention Center in Glynn County.

State News
Recycling, Waste Reduction, and Diversion (RWD) Grant 

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) recently announced the Recycling, Waste Reduction, and Diversion (RWD) Grant as part of the Solid Waste Trust Fund (SWTF) Grant Program. The amount of available funding is $2,000,000 for state fiscal year 2023.

The RWD Grant furthers the goals for the SWTF by providing financial support to projects in Georgia to reduce solid waste, recover valuable materials, support manufacturing, and encourage innovation.
 
Eligible applicants and recipients include counties, municipalities, or any combination of the same, or public authorities, agencies, commissions, or institutions. Grant program guidelines and the application can be found here.
 
The deadline to apply is September 30, 2022.

State Revolving Fund Call for Projects

The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) is opening two State Revolving Fund call for project periods this year.

  1. The 2022 Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Supplemental Funding call for projects is now open. Pre-applications will be accepted until Monday, October 31, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. Click here for more details.
  2. The 2023 CWSRF and DWSRF Annual Base Funding call for projects. GEFA is opening the 2023 CWSRF and DWSRF Annual Base Funding call for projects on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. It will close on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. More information will be available soon.
