Georgia Environmental Conference
This years Annual Georgia Environmental Conference will be held August 23-25 at the Jekyll Island Convention Center. This is the largest, most comprehensive and diverse educational opportunity regarding environmental issues and local government officials and staff are invited to attend. House Rural Development Council Commences its Work
During the 2017 legislative session the Georgia House of Representatives passed HR 389 which establishes the House Rural Development Council. The Council consists of 15 House members who will study the conditions, needs, issues and problems facing rural Georgia and, over the next two years, identify policies and ideas to enhance economic opportunity across the state. The Council held its first meeting on May 22 in Tifton/Tift County, Georgia, mainly focusing on rural broadband. It meets next on June 15 in Toccoa/Stephens County to examine economic development opportunities. County commissioners are encouraged to attend and, if possible, participate in these meetings to share their local perspective.
