Canada-Alberta Job Grant paused

The federal government's $70.8 million cut from the Labour Market Transfer Agreement has led to a pause in Alberta's Canada-Alberta Job Grant program until March 2025, affecting approximately 1,000 businesses and the training of 4,000 workers. This cut is part of a broader $625 million reduction affecting 240,000 clients and 13,000 employers across Canada, intensifying labour shortages in sectors like construction and healthcare. Provincial and territorial leaders have voiced significant concerns, emphasizing the negative impact on labour markets during a recent meeting with Federal Minister Randy Boissonnault.
