OUR SUMMER RESIDENTIAL 2021 Program in New York City is planned and will take place if Pandemic Guidelines allow for such. Otherwise the ABSP Summer Internship/Visiting Fellowships will take place REMOTELY-At-a-Distance.

OVERVIEW of REMOTE PROGRAM

  1. Participate from where you will be/reside this Spring/Summer/Fall 2021
  2. Supervision online/telephone as needed
  3. Online training in technology/biomarker acquired data acquisition
  4. Online training in applied evidence-based applied sport psychology/ABSP Athlete Assessment, Mental Training and Analytics Protocol
  5. Online Lectures
  6. Can be done with one or more athletes and all sports (Self-Study as an athlete can also be structured: apply procedures/learn/train yourself using Protocols)
  7. No travel beyond your selected venue
  8. Reduced exposure to large crowds
  9. More Economical
  10. Counts toward ABSP Board Certification if or when eligible
  11. One week up to 6 month programs (Ideal length: One to three months)
  12. Customized programs can be arranged

Here are some more specifics:

1. You need to have access to at least one athlete (or if you are also an athlete, self apply the protocol under my direction/supervision) REMOTE ASSESSMENT and MENTAL TRAINING PARADIGMS; BIOMARKER-GUIDED

2. The athlete(s) need NOT be involved in formal active training with their team or if an individual athlete, competing at events (since it is assumed that until the Virus issue is under control many games/leagues/seasons-events will be cancelled or postponed; should restrictions be lifted you would/could integrate your work into official games if permitted).

3. You would be trained online/via ZOOM in primary protocol methods and procedures and learn to collect and manage data and administer technology-biomarker-guided mental training and mental training efficacy testing.

4. You should devote 2-4 hours a day or an aggregate of about 20 hours a week spread over 5-7 days in accord with your athlete(s) schedule (your schedule as well). One of these hours should involve direct work (REMOTELY if NECESSARY) with your athlete(s), the other 1-2 hours are usually devoted to data management, analysis and interpretation and study.

5. A 1 hour lecture and/or group discussion conference-call/ZOOM-based session that can include your athlete(s) will be scheduled twice a week.

6. Ideally, students would enroll for 1 to 3 months; however, 1-3 week sessions are also available as well as Drop-In tele-sessions.

7. Participation and hours accrued count toward Board Certification (BC) in Sport Psychology if eligible or once a student becomes eligible for BC.

8. A summary final project must be completed under Dr. Carlstedt's mentorship/direction; MANY STUDENTS have used this project for Independent Study credit at their schools and/or made or have received contributor credit on presentations or papers/book chapters (VERY IMPORTANT for graduate school admission consideration by committees).

If you have further interest we can arrange a telephone info talk.
