Join this conversation with multi-generational and gender pastors, designed to stimulate a discussion among congregations about what church can look like if we move outside of our comfort zones and the roadblocks of tradition. This first discussion was an event that was postponed and was going to focus on reimagining the black church, but we believe all churches will be able to glean relevant information to help you and your congregation. 

This is a discussion that we hope pastors will challenge their board members and congregation to listen with them as we discuss the good and not-so-good about how we have been doing church.

Black Church Ministries aims to assist pastors and churches in growing, developing, and expanding their ministry base within their cultural context. We have various programs planned to support church ministry – leadership, Sunday school, and discipleship training, and we plan to have retreats for pastors and a Juneteenth Celebration.

Monthly Zoom meetings are scheduled for the 4^th Monday of each month. A Juneteenth Celebration is scheduled for June 22, 2024.

2024 Regional Ministry

The 2024 Regional Ministry Calendar is below with upcoming events for 2024 that bring our American Baptist family together for fellowship and equipping for effective ministry.  Here are a few highlights:

• Third Thursdays: Pastors and leaders come together to focus on ministry challenges and connect on Zoom. 
• PLEASE NOTE: THE ARIZONA ASSOCIATION MEETING HAS BEEN POSTPONED FROM MARCH 2 TO A LATER DATE.
• April 5 – ABCOFLASH Clippers Night – Come together with other churches in the L.A. area for an evening of fellowship and basketball when the Clippers play the Utah Jazz
• Juneteenth Event – The ABCOFLASH Black Caucus will be sponsoring an event for everyone in our region to celebrate Juneteenth. The date and location are yet to be determined.
• Latino Ministries will have several training events, couples retreats, prayer vigils, youth events, and more. A more complete list of their events can be found on the Latino page of our website or by contacting Berta Villacorta at the Regional Resource Center
• ABCOFLASH Annual Meeting – October 3-5 – First Baptist Church of Glendale – The focus will be on the next generation of ministry. We are excited to announce that Dr. Warren H. Stewart, Sr., Pastor of First Institutional Baptist Church of Phoenix, will be our featured speaker.

As you plan the events and ministries of your church, please keep in mind these many opportunities! Additional events will be planned for pastors and ministry leaders throughout the year.
