  2. The 2022 Waste Management Phoenix Open generated a $453.7 million economic impact for Arizona, according to a new study by Arizona State University. The economic impact study reported a contribution to the state's gross domestic product of $276.8 million and an annual employment impact of 4,290 jobs. 
  3. The latest AZ Inno article highlights the transformation of Arizona’s startup ecosystem into a national success story. In the Q&A, investors Curtis Gunn and Jim Goulka share their experiences with Arizona startups and why the state is a strategic location for scaling early-stage companies. 
  4. The U.S. Census Bureau is collecting data for the 2022 Economic Census, which measures industry and market statistics of the U.S. economy. Arizona businesses that receive an invitation to the survey can submit their responses for 2022 through March 15.

Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait K.S.C.P is pleased to announce it has successfully closed a 37-month USD 825 million Term Loan Facility, securing the largest financing related to a Kuwaiti financial institution since January 2010.

Boeing Awarded U.S. Army Contract for Next-Generation Diagnostic Tool


RIDLEY PARK, Pa., Jan. 26, 2023 — The U.S. Army has selected Boeing [NYSE:BA] to produce additional Next Generation Automated Test System (NGATS) units with a contract award worth up to $92 million over three years. NGATS is a single, mobile diagnostic tool that provides real-time testing in the field.


NGATS provides immediate solutions, enabling automated fault diagnosis of more than 100 components. NGATS eliminates manual troubleshooting and disassembly of components which reduce labor hours. NGATS aids in avoiding lead times that come with ordering parts and possible depot-level maintenance. One Armored Brigade Combat Team noted NGATS saved more than $26 million in repair costs in five months.

El Segundo, Calif. (January 4, 2023) – Raytheon Intelligence & Space has been awarded a prime contract to develop a prototype Missile Track Custody system for the U.S. Space Force. MTC is the service’s first Medium Earth Orbit missile tracking system.

 

Under this contract, Raytheon Intelligence & Space will serve as the prime contractor, developing and delivering a space vehicle, hosting a state-of-the-art missile tracking mission payload and ground-based command and control and mission-data processing elements. This system was developed using model-based systems engineering significantly increasing the speed of development, while reducing cost.

KUWAIT: The Commerce and Industry Ministry has received memos from local and GCC dairy companies seeking to raise the prices of their products due to the spike in costs in accordance with neighboring countries.


“The first request was by a GCC country, but other regional companies soon followed, as the ministry is about to study these requests during this month. The ministry will review the requests to raise the prices of products as well as other requests including the ceiling put forth during the COVID pandemic in 2020,” sources revealed to Kuwait Times. Bid to manage Kuwait airports


KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1: MP Adel Al-Damkhi has submitted a bill on the establishment of a shareholding company that will manage Kuwait International Airport and subsidiary airports. The lawmaker pointed out that the budget for the airport has increased; while the administration and maintenance works have been entrusted to unqualified contractors, resulting in poor service and higher cost. He said the bill is aimed at nationalizing technical jobs in order to generate job opportunities for qualified Kuwaiti youths, improve the quality of airport services through a strategic partnership with an international entity and government monitoring, generate income for shareholders (citizens), and acquire experience through the implementation of local projects in accordance with the international competitiveness system like the Dubai Ports World (DP World) and Malaysian companies. Read more...

KOC signs consulting contract to conduct study for exploitation of renewable energy in its fields

USDA Continues Laying Foundation for More and Better Markets with Launch of Pilot Cattle Contracts Library


WASHINGTON, Jan. 31, 2023 -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) launched its pilot Cattle Contracts Library today at Noon Eastern Time on the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) Cattle Contract Library webpage. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022 directed USDA to create a pilot library to increase market transparency for cattle producers. This pilot library will provide new disclosure to the industry and public regarding the key terms, conditions, and volumes under which cattle are contracted, bringing sunshine to practices in what is now the largest part of the cattle market. This will empower cattle producers to negotiate better terms, more carefully monitor risks relating to marketing preferences and pricing practices, and ultimately take better advantage of market opportunities to produce cattle that the market demands. U.S. Department of Energy Awards $118 Million to Accelerate Domestic Biofuel Production


WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced $118 million in funding for 17 projects to accelerate the production of sustainable biofuels for America’s transportation and manufacturing needs. The selected projects, located at universities and private companies, will drive the domestic production of biofuels and bioproducts by advancing biorefinery development, from pre-pilot to demonstration, to create sustainable fuels that reduce emissions associated with fossil fuels. Funding for this opportunity supports President Biden’s goals to deliver an equitable, clean energy future, and put the United States on a path to achieve net-zero emissions, economy-wide, by no later than 2050. Projects selected as part of this funding opportunity will contribute to meeting DOE’s goal to achieve cost-competitive biofuels and at least a 70% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030. Read more...
