Fraud Alert!

We have been alerted to the fact that someone has been sending spam/scam emails to our members asking you to purchase gift cards on behalf of the branch. The email was made to look like it came from Leanne Baumeler but it's from an email unassociated with the branch.

Please just DELETE this email. We are NOT collecting gift cards for anyone.

Thank you and thanks for all you do to support the AAUW Mission.

Keeping in Touch

As AAUW members and friends, we have much to celebrate, recognize and honor. Please share with Pat Lewallen via email: bandplew@chartermi.net or call home phone: 231-946-3746. Special milestones among our members: birthdays, accomplishments, celebrations, condolences, etc. Pat will get out an appropriate card to them.

Getting to Know Betty Lien

Why did you join AAUW?

Pat Lewellen spoke to me about joining the organization and it really appealed to me. To be with other professional women.

Tell us about your service?

I have been a member of the book club for several years and helped out with the book sales. I then took on the responsibility for the scholarship committee chair and love working with a team to select worthy candidates for the scholarships.

What are some of your outside interests?

I belong to the old mission women’s club. I exercise five days a week at the YMCA. I love to have dinner parties and cook up some goodies. I love to travel to distant countries where you learn about the different cultures. My favorites are Israel and Italy.

Tell us about your family

I have a loving and tolerant husband and a son that lives in Manton Michigan and a daughter that lives in Tampa Florida. I have 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

PAST PROGRAMS

Were you unable to attend last month's Zoom? You can watch the video here: In Conversation with Alumna Dr. Keisha Blain

Watch video clip from PBS's American Experience. Former sharecropper Fannie Lou Hamer's Congressional testimony is so powerful that President Johnson calls an impromptu press conference to get her off the air. But his plan backfires.
