President's Message
Don't Miss the IVAPM Pain Management Forum!
Dear AARV Members:
The AARV Annual Meeting at the IVAPM Pain Management Forum is fast approaching! It is not too late to sign up for a spot at this meeting! Managing our patients’ acute and chronic pain goes hand in hand with physical rehabilitation, so you can really get a lot of bang for your buck by attending this meeting April 14-16, 2024 in Indianapolis. Learn more HERE!
I would like to extend a personal congratulations to Cassondra Hartmann, LVT, on winning the CRI Educational Grant Essay Award! I look forward to meeting you in class!
April 27th is World Veterinary Day. I would like to thank each and every one of you for dedicating your time and talents for the betterment of your patients. After 24 years in veterinary medicine, I understand how grueling our work can be. While I firmly believe rehabilitation is the best niche of veterinary medicine, it is still challenging. The AARV wants to commend you all for what you do to enrich the lives of the patients and pet owners you serve. Thank you!
As a reminder, the AARV board is currently updating the Physical Rehabilitation Model of Practice, and we would love to hear from our members. What do you think needs to be included in this important document? Please email me with your thoughts!

Congratulations to Our Educational Grant Winner!
|
Congratulations to Cassondra Hartman, who has been selected by the AARV Board as the winner of a new Educational Grant from CRI covering 50% of the remaining tuition for Licensed Veterinary Technicians to earn Certification in Canine Rehabilitation as a CCRVT/CCRVN.
| |
|
Cassondra "Cassie" Hartman is a licensed veterinary technician from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Cassie has been involved with canine sports for twenty years and has a strong interest in canine sports medicine and rehabilitation. Her goal is to become a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Veterinary Technician through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute to make rehabilitation therapy more accessible to patients and sporting canines in her area. Ultimately Cassie would like to pursue a Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in Rehabilitation Therapy through the Academy of Physical Rehabilitation Technicians (APRVT). Upon achieving these goals, Cassie hopes to improve patient quality of life and educate other veterinary professionals about veterinary rehabilitation. Congratulations, Cassie!

AARV Now Has More Than 1,200 Articles of Interest in Its Database!
| |
AARV's searchable Articles of Interest Database has expanded to include 1,205 articles! The database now includes Articles of Interest for all of 2016 through December 2022 and is available to AARV members in the Members area of its website.
AARV will keep adding journal articles to the database each month to develop its usefulness as a research tool. We also will continue to include links to our past Articles of Interest from 2010 to the present in PDF format. All Articles of Interest have been selected by AARV founder Dr. Julia Tomlinson because of their relevance to the field of veterinary rehabilitation.
To search the database, log in to the Members Area of the website and go to the Articles of Interest Database page. Enter a keyword, author's name, or other search term to begin your search. A list of matching article abstracts will be displayed. A link to the full version of the journal article will be provided if available.
Our thanks to Dr. Julia Tomlinson for selecting relevant journal articles each month and Dr. Bruce Henderson, Secretary, for preparing the articles for the database.
