A Message from the Executive Director

Can you believe it is already July?!? For AALC, July means the launch of our annual Photo & Testimonial Contest. Every year AALC receives hundreds of photos that showcase Supportive Living residents and staff. This year’s theme for all our resident activities is “Life is a Journey.” We know 2021 has continued to be a year like no other. We asked our residents and staff to submit photos and testimonials that capture the important role Supportive Living has played in the journey. In addition to awarding the winning entries from both the photo and testimonial contests cash donations to sponsor resident or employee activities at the Supportive Living communities they represent, AALC will highlight many of the photos on our website. If you have not yet visited our website new this year, we encourage you to take a look! AALC aims to be the leading source of information for the Supportive Living sector. You can find information about upcoming training & educational opportunities, news, and COVID-19 updates. Involuntary Discharge for late payment or nonpayment resumes after July 24th

The Executive Order (EO 2020-35) that suspended the initiation of an involuntary discharge of a resident for late payment or nonpayment expires on July 24^th! After July 24, 2021, involuntary transfers or discharges for late payment or nonpayment will be permitted pursuant to 210 ILCS 45/3-401(d), 210 ILCS 46/3-401(d), and 210 ILCS 47/3-401(d).

Legislative Update

Governor Pritzker in June 2021 signed the bill containing AALC’s legislative fix to the Illinois Property Tax Code ensuring that local assessors appropriately calculate rental income when valuing Supportive Living Program communities. The language had an immediate effective date. This measure will help protect the Supportive Living Program and ensure its sustainability. Click here to learn more.
