Volume 194 | June 2024 in Review

| June Treasure Talk 2024!

With school being out, your caregiving responsibilities are likely to increase; sometimes, even going to school provides you with a break from tasks at home.

Without this school break, your normal frustrations may increase.

Before they get to a boiling point, contact your Family Specialist or call our office for help (561-391-7401).

Please remember that asking for help is a sign of strength!

| Graduation Goals! Check Out Our Shining Stars!

Guess what?! We just celebrated a HUGE milestone at AACY – 100% of our graduating seniors (that's 60 amazing Caregiving Youth!) graduated high school this year!

This incredible achievement is all thanks to the hard work of our superstar AACY team, led by the awesome Amoy Gordon, Marisol Goffman, and Richane Etienne. Shout-out to them for supporting our graduates all the way through!

It's not just a one-time thing either! Thanks to everyone's dedication, our 10-year high school graduation rate is now a whopping 98.3%! That means almost everyone in our program graduates high school – pretty incredible, right?

This is a HUGE deal because we know being a Caregiving Youth can be tough. But look at these graduates! They balanced schoolwork, family responsibilities, and everything else life throws their way, and now they're ready for amazing things!

We have included some photos from the celebration! Remember, graduation is a BIG deal, and we'll be there to celebrate YOU when your time comes!

Here's the best part: You can achieve amazing things too! Just keep working hard, stay focused on your goals, and remember the AACY team is always here to support you. See you at the top!

| Jesenia Orozco, Miss Wellington USA 2024 & Miss Global Colombia 2019-2022

Big thanks to Jesenia Orozco for making graduation super special for everyone at AACY! Jesenia, Miss Wellington USA and former Miss Global Colombia said she was really happy to be part of the ceremony.

Jesenia's sister, Dianne, took care of their mom when she was in middle and high school. Their mom was sick with cancer, and Dianne helped her to doctor appointments, plus a lot more. Jesenia thinks AACY is an awesome team because they let kids be kids, even when things are tough. She says Dr. Connie and the program offer a lot of care and love.

Jesenia knows many Caregiving Youth go through hard times, so she's honored to be involved in advocating and recognizing how special you are. She wishes all the graduates and you the best of luck in your bright future.

| Ballet project puts a modern spin on young caregivers

This month, we're jet-setting to Japan to discover something amazing! A ballet project there is putting a modern twist on the lives of young caregivers!

Just like us at AACY, Japan is working hard to raise awareness about Caregiving Youth. They're shining a spotlight on all the incredible young people who help take care of their families.

Did you know that millions of young people around the world were caregivers in middle and high school? That's a huge number! And guess what? Many of these Caregiving Youth, when they grow up, want to make a difference. They're passionate about creating change and making things better for other kids who are caregivers too.

This ballet project in Japan captures this spirit perfectly! Through dance, they're telling the stories of Caregiving Youth in a beautiful and inspiring way. Check it out here!

| Caregiving Youth Scholarship Spotlight!

We just celebrated some incredible graduates at the 2024 George Snow Scholarship Awards held at Lynn University. A huge shoutout to the Davidowitz Family for their amazing generosity! They awarded 33 Davidowitz Family Caregiving Youth Scholarships to some seriously deserving high school graduates!

Congratulations to Monia and Leah, our 1st and 2nd place Firestone Award winners!

These scholarships are for students like YOU – future leaders who are actively making a difference in your family's lives. We're so excited that 18 of the winners are planning healthcare careers! Maybe one day you'll be the next doctor, nurse, or healthcare hero, changing the world for good!

The awesome students above are all part of our AACY family. See Breyana Brown from Inlet Grove Community High School in Boynton Beach? She's pictured at the bottom left corner and is headed to Florida A&M University to major in Nursing and Pre-Med. Talk about future doctor goals!

These scholarship winners are all Caregiving Youth superstars, and we're bursting with pride! Keep shining bright, everyone! We are here to support you and help you succeed!

| AACY on Capitol Hill - Washington, D.C.

This month, AACY got to visit a super important place in Washington, D.C. - Capitol Hill! That's where legislators in Congress make decisions that affect us all. AACY was invited by the Georgia-based Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers to a special meeting with Congressional members all about caregivers and mental health.

A former Caregiving Youth, A.J. Poole, was the AACY representative at the meeting, where some amazing young people, like you, who care for their families, shared their stories. One person, Anita, shared how she helped her mom, who had mental health issues when she was a teenager, and another named Saanvi even helped her grandma talk to doctors when she was only seven!

By being in these important meetings, we can learn more, connect with others, and let everyone know that there are millions of Caregiving Youth in the US. The more people who know about us, the faster we can get the help and support you deserve.

Thanks to The Rosalynn Carter Institute and the Carter Center for inviting AACY to participate in this important event.
