After leaving a refugee camp in Thailand, Paw Wah moved to City Heights in 2008. She got involved with EHC to help her neighbors fight for environmental justice and engage the Karen community to vote. She recently graduated from SALTA, EHC's leadership-development training program, to empower residents to become leaders in our communities.

Barrio Logan Students to Develop New Mural for Our Community
We've teamed up with local youth and residents from Barrio Logan, local artist Alicia Maria Siu and the Chicano Park Steering Committee to bring to life a new mural in Chicano Park. Our community describes the soon-to-be mural as an empowering memoir of past visionaries mixed with a vision for the future of the neighborhood. The new mural will come to life next to the Chicano Park Herb Garden in the spring of 2018.

We know that when our community members vote, we vote for justice. EHC's civic engagement work empowers and elevates our voices to ensure election results represent the issues we care about. As we prepare for 2018, we look forward to building opportunities for you to get involved and ensure your vote, and the votes of your neighbors, make a difference in our neighborhoods.

En 2008, Paw Wah dejó atrás un campo para refugiados en Tailandia y llegó a City Heights. Comenzó a participar con EHC para ayudar a sus vecinos a luchar por la justicia ambiental y aumentar la concurrencia de la comunidad Karen a votar. Recientemente se graduó de SALTA, el programa de desarrollo de liderazgo que ofrece EHC para empoderar a residentes de nuestras comunidades para convertirse en líderes.

Alumnos de Barrio Logan Desarrollarán Nuevo Mural para Nuestra Comunidad
Nos aliamos con jóvenes y residentes de Barrio Logan, la artista local Alicia Maria Siu y el Chicano Park Steering Committee para que cobre vida un nuevo mural en el parque Chicano Park. Nuestra comunidad describe lo que pronto será el mural como una mezcla entre una potente memoria de visionarios pasados y una visión futura para el barrio. El nuevo mural cobrará vida en primavera de 2018, a un lado del Jardín Herbolario de Chicano Park.

Sabemos que cuando la gente de nuestra comunidad vota, votamos por la justicia. La labor de EHC para elevar la
participación cívica crece y empodera a nuestras voces a fin de lograr que los resultados electorales representen los temas que nos son de importancia. Ahora que nos preparamos para recibir el 2018, buscaremos crear oportunidades para que Usted participe y lograr que su voto, y los votos de sus vecinos, marquen una diferencia en nuestras comunidades.
