I am honored and thrilled to serve you as the new President & CEO of our San Jose Chamber of Commerce. As we embark on a new chapter, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to you for supporting our endeavors through your membership and sponsorships. I am a believer in the power of collective efforts to bring change and look forward to discovering what we will do together to drive business and our community forward.

Land Use Committee: Responsible Construction Ordinance

The Chamber and numerous stakeholder groups engaged in weeks of dialog and negotiation with the City to determine the direction of the proposed Responsible Construction Ordinance, submitting a letter and addressing City Council at their 1/23/24 meeting. This new policy impacts all construction projects over 10,000 square feet with the goal of preventing wage theft. Our collaborative efforts resulted in a compromise that serves its purpose though adds another layer of needed approvals to obtain a building permit. March 2024 Ballot – Yes on Prop 1

The Chamber supports Proposition 1 on the March 5, 2024 ballot. Prop 1 will provide $1billion to serve veterans who are experiencing homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse issues. In the late 1950s, California had the capacity to treat 37,000 patients in state mental health hospitals, but because of actions taken, those beds were closed and never replaced - leaving some of the most acute mental health patients on the streets. Prop 1 brings new mental health treatment capacity and housing opportunities to our community and state-wide.
