Today is an extraordinary day for COFI, as we celebrate the largest single donation in our history. I am pleased to announce that philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has donated $2 million to advance our work in building the leadership, power, and voice of low-income parents
The impact of Ms. Scott’s unrestricted gift of $2 million will be substantial – allowing us to reinforce COFI’s organizational infrastructure for long-term sustainability as we continue to build the organization into a national model for parent leadership.
As a partner and friend of COFI, you understand how our work provides parents the tools they need to raise their voices so they can transform their lives and communities. And, you know that they cannot use that voice without a seat at the table. We teach parents how to bring their own chairs to the table so they can start talking to key decision makers about the issues that impact their families and communities.
The results of our efforts have been nothing short of amazing. Just this past year, COFI-trained parent leaders celebrated significant legislative victories. These wins could not have been achieved without the ongoing partnership of supporters like you who have collaborated with COFI in our programming, guided us in our efforts, or cheered us from the sidelines as we advance our legislative goals.
Your support of COFI has provided us with the means to grow our work to where it is today – and Ms. Scott’s generous gift will allow us to build a solid foundation to sustain our programs into the future. With this foundation in place, and with your continued support and partnership, we hope to continue to grow the organization as a national model for parent leadership and organizing.
Today, we wish to extend our thanks to Ms. Scott and to partners like you, whose support will advance the efforts of thousands of families poised to transform their communities and our world.

With gratitude,
Ellen Schumer
