The couple reside in a historic apartment building that frequently floods whenever there is heavy rain. In September and October there were several severe storms that virtually destroyed their kitchen. They were unable to use their appliances and faced months of renovation before the wife could prepare meals again. What made it especially difficult was that the wife had limited ability to go out and purchase prepared food, since she was the sole caregiver for her husband.
When JFS enrolled the couple in KMOW, they were pleased with both the convenience and the quality of the meals. Last week, Sara received a call from the wife, cheerfully informing her that their kitchen had been restored, and that they no longer needed the meals. She expressed their gratitude for how helpful the Kosher Meals on Wheels program had been at a particularly trying time in their lives.
