Worsted Weight Sock Yarn! |

|
|
Many of us love knitting socks and we typically use fingering weight yarn on small needles. Sometimes we want a pair of socks that are more robust, especially if we're planning on wearing them with boots. Worsted weight socks also knit up a lot faster as you're using much larger needles.
Supersocke 8Ply from On-Line is a great, self-striping yarn that gives you approx 346 yards per 100 gram ball, enough for a pair of most socks. It's a true sock yarn in that it's a wool/polyamid blend as well as being machine washable.

Super Soxx from Lang is a great wool/nylon blend that yields a fair isle pattern, right from the ball!
Each ball gives you about 457 yards of machine washable goodness, plenty for a pair of most socks.

Maybe you'd like to knit socks with Alpaca?
Alpaca Soxx from Lang is a blend of superfine Alpaca and Nylon with approx. 425 yards on a ball, enough for a pair of socks. And yes, it's machine washable!
It comes in a variety of solid colors and is perfect for socks, kids clothes, or those shawl patterns we all love.

Short rows are a great way to add shaping without the use of increases or decreases. There are many short row methods and we'll explore many of them while focusing on the technique used in the class project, the Fealdan Shawl, knit with Manos del Uruguay Fino!
