A Spirit of Gift, a Place of Sharing: Asai, Sanpitak, Kimsooja at Hancock Shaker Village
in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, through November 14

Hancock Shaker Village presents A Spirit of Gift, a Place of Sharing: Asai, Sanpitak, Kimsooja, featuring the work of Yusuke Asai, Pinaree Sanpitak, and Kimsooja. Asai, Sanpitak and Kimsooja, who are from Japan, Thailand and Korea respectively, come to Hancock Shaker Village to "explore links between 19th century Shaker art and contemporary Asian art." The artists "[connect] the forms rooted in various Asian sensibilities and aesthetics as manifested in the contemporary visual language of these three artists, which share an intense concentration of minds, handcrafted intimacy, and unique use of space." The show runs through November 14. The village is open every day from 11 a.m.—4 p.m. Hancock Shaker Village is located at 1843 West Housatonic St. , Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Andrew Wyeth: Life and Death at the Colby Museum of Art

Colby Museum of Art presents Andrew Wyeth: Life and Death. Andrew Wyeth (1917-2009) envisions his own funeral in this recently rediscovered series of drawings from the 1990s. "The exhibition connects the sketches now known as the Funeral Group to Wyeth’s decades-long engagement with death as an artistic subject in painting, his relationships with the models depicted, and his expressive and exploratory use of drawing." The show runs through October 16. The museum is open Tuesday—Saturday, 10 a.m.—5 p.m., and Sunday, 12—5 p.m. Colby Museum of Art is located at 5600 Mayflower Hill, Waterville, Maine. Museum of the White Mountains presents Watching the Seasons Change through September 17. The show features "a plurality of voices that span 300 years of appreciating and adapting to the seasons in the White Mountains." "Abenaki basketmakers joining with foresters to protect the brown ash tree; artists immersing themselves in experimental environmental research; scientists at Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest," and others present their collaborative artwork at this show. The show runs through September 17. The gallery is open Tuesday—Friday from 10 a.m.—4 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Museum of the White Mountains is located on the campus of Plymouth State University 34 Highland Street
