If only we’re brave enough

A Time to Share the Light

May ‘Simply Prayer’ Illuminates Love in Our Lives

Spring is here! The darkness of winter has passed, and we look forward to the bright and sunny days of spring and summer. As darkness and light are a natural part of the seasons, so too, they are a part of our lives. We experience the darkness of war, violence, and suffering of many kinds. And we go through our personal darkness of sin and human weakness.

How we long for the light on those dark winter nights. We cannot do without light in our lives. Our belief in God is our chief source of light. He loves us, walks with us, answers our prayers. While God is our primary source of light, we receive it from other sources, too — family, friends, coworkers, even chance acquaintances. Their many examples of love enrich our lives, and they encourage us to be the light to others.

The Church dedicates the month of May to Our Lady Mother of Jesus the Light of the World. Let us remember her beautiful life and ask for her intercession, as we gather for Simply Prayer: Share the Light at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7. Sister Marguerite Stewart (inset) will lead the program in the first-floor conference room of St. Francis Center at Monocacy Manor in Bethlehem, Pa. For those who do not live nearby, online attendance also is available through Zoom.

Those attending in person are welcome to join us for coffee at 9:30 a.m. Freewill offerings are accepted. Click below to register online now. If you would prefer to register by phone, contact Lauren Martin at 610-867-8890 or lmartin@schoolsistersosf.org.

Sisters Awed by Earth, Moon & Sun

With Earth Day upon us tomorrow (April 22), it seems a good time to ‘reflect’ back on a recent natural phenomenon the solar eclipse we experienced here in the United States on April 8. Sisters Carol Ann Papp, Lorita Kristufek and Pat Mahoney took in the special event from the lawn of Little Flower House in Pittsburgh, Pa., where the eclipse reached 97-percent totality around 3:17 p.m.
