The Florida Carry Board of Directors is saddened to announce that longtime board member Steve Merrett passed away Sunday afternoon from a cardiac event.
"We are devastated by the untimely loss of our trusted board member and steadfast friend to so many of us, Steve Merrette," said Florida Carry co-founder and co-executive director Sean Caranna. "Few people have been so dedicated to their friends, family, and our cause as Steve and the void left by his absence can never truly be filled. My words cannot begin to express how deeply Steve will be missed or how truly and passionately we pray for the serenity of his wile, children, and family."
Steve was a U.S. Air Force veteran and an avid supporter of the Second Amendment. He was an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor and Range Safety Officer, a Glock Armorer and a SIRT Certified Instructor, who taught firearms safety and Concealed Weapons Permit classes for many years.
Steve held degrees in Electrical Engineering from The State University of New York, Binghamton and Information Technology/Application Programming from Colorado Technical University.
Steve served as Florida Carry's Director of Member Affairs.
He is survived by his wife, Graciela and the couple's children.
Information about memorials and funeral services is pending.
He will be missed by all of us lucky enough to have known him. May he be blessed by God and welcomed by Angels into Heaven.
Respectfully,
Your Florida Carry board of directors
