January Newsletter

As the year begins, we celebrate one of our staff members’ 35th anniversary with us. As a child, she was one of the first female members of our Encinitas Club and now manages the Club she used to attend. In addition to her story, we celebrate 15 full-time leadership staff, all of whom have more than 10 years of service. Personally, I reached my 32nd year here in 2023. Read More

Raising More than Just our Roofs!

A New Gym for Griset

This Saturday will be the grand

re-opening of our Griset gymnasium. As we enter into Snuffy Basketball season, players and parents will get to experience a completely renovated gym from floor to ceiling.

Changes include a completely refinished floor, mold and mildew remediation, and new paint, heaters and ventilation.

Harper Gets A New Roof

It was a happy holiday for all in our Solana Beach facility as the entire Harper facility received all new new roofing material. All work hopes to be concluded by end of January.

Next on our list: our Polster facility roof in Carmel Valley!

Fiber Internet for Harper

Thanks to Ting our Harper facility is having an IT facelift with "crazy fast, reliable, gigabit fiber Internet" installed for free!

Trenching began this week through the Friends of Ting program, which

provides access to nonprofits and community organizations.

Help us Raise the Roof

We have an urgent need to upgrade all three of our gymnasium and Clubhouse roofs. Our current roofs are original, some dating back as early as 1969, and they are all in desperate need of repairs.

Sugar & Spice & Everything Nice!

Members and their families gathered at our Polster Clubhouse in Carmel Valley to have some quality Gingerbread House making time while raising some much needed holiday funds for the Clubhouse.

SANTA SIGHTINGS!

Our annual Griset Clubhouse Drive Through Event allowed our members to visit Santa in the comfort of their own cars while still getting that perfect photo!

Big thanks to Del Mar Rotary and Jake's Del Mar for helping us bring Santa (and the Gingerbread Man) to our La Colonia members. The annual party is open to members and their families.

The holidays really are meant for kids! These Carmel Valley Montessori Members prove that there is nothing cuter or more fun than experiencing the holidays with little ones...but wait why are our CVMS teachers the ones posing with Santa?

Breakweek Camp Means Big Fun

Our winter Break Camps brought about fun amidst the rain and lack of sun.

Our Harper Clubhouse even hosted their own New Year's Balloon Drop!

What's Cooking at the CHL

Grow, harvest, and cook your own ingredients!

Break Week Camp

Campers practiced knife skills and made a variety of recipes each morning: homemade lasagna, pizza, tacos, cookies and lemon bars.

Each camp transitioned from the kitchen to the pottery wheels in the afternoons where they learned to

throw pottery.

Charity League Comes to CHL

As their end of the year meeting and educational bonding activity, our Local National Charity League Organization brought 27 girls to our Griset kitchen where they learned to made crepes with fresh whip cream and practiced their knife skills chopping fruit and vegetables to fill them.

Composting for a Cause

Thank you to the 15 Aha! corporate team members that participated in an end of year clean up and team building event in our Encinitas and Del Mar gardens.

The Encinitas group helped clean up and weed the Griset Garden while the Del Mar group completely overhauled the Clubhouse garden by turning over the beds and adding 15 bags of new composting soil which they generously donated.

Supporting Sponsors Who Support Us

For many of our members, the holidays can't happen without the care and support of BGC San Dieguito and the amazing network of businesses, organizations and groups that support this community. The next time you eat at a restaurant, mail a package or even want to cheer on a local sports team, think about supporting not just local, but those who give back!

Del Mar provide the food for our La Colonia Holiday Party.

Players from Pacific Ridge Girls Basketball deliver presents for some of our kids.
