On mornings when I'm driving the 70 miles from my shop to Nashville CNC to do design work or drop off materials for cutting, I usually stop in at my local McDonalds and pick up a couple of breakfast burritos. The amount of Mcfood that I eat these days is a lot less than in years past, but breakfast burritos seem to me to be one of the better choices on the menu in terms of possibly being made with real food, and they are easy to eat as I drive along on the highway. Pre-pandemic, two burritos cost a buck a piece, and with tax the total was a little over two bucks. I stopped in a few days ago on one of my trips to Music City, and the total for two burritos with tax was $5.81.

I've tried my best not to raise my prices, I really have. But after a comprehensive review of our first quarter sales and expenses, I have determined that we are not making enough money on our products. On the business side, we've seen price increases on everything that we buy these days for shop supplies, raw materials, and components. Supply issues continue to be a problem, causing us extra cost and hours of time to get what we need to build our products. On the personal side, like all of you, we are spending more money now than ever before on food, utilities, insurances, etc...

I will continue to look for ways to be more efficient in our operations, to shop suppliers aggressively to find the best deals, and to work hard to keep our own costs in line. I will not cut quality and I will continue to pay my employees well.

To do all this and keep Volti Audio a sustainable business, I need to raise prices.

I'm giving you all some notice. On July 1, I will raise prices on all Volti Audio products. If you've been thinking about buying a pair of Volti speakers, and if you can comfortably do it, put a deposit down before the price goes up.

Here's an option that may interest some of you. Introducing the "Decorator" Razz, offered in unfinished Baltic Birch plywood at just $5,500/pair.

Paint them, stain them, put a coat of polyurethane on them, or just leave them as is. They are exactly the same construction quality, they use the same materials, components, and crossovers, they are broken-in, tested, and packaged with the same care as any Razz speaker, and they have the same great sound. The only difference is they do not have veneer or clear finish.

The price of $5,500 will remain after the upcoming price increase, which will put these at two grand less than veneered and finished Razz.

Please note, these are not finished birch speaker cabinets. They have filled nail holes, filled repairs, and butt-joints. They are cabinets that have been prepped to be veneered, but then pulled out of production at that point to go directly to assembly/break-in/testing/packaging. I just don't want you to get the wrong idea about what I'm offering here.

Frankly, I don't think you should buy these. I think you should spring for the nice veneer finish that Volti Audio is known for. But for some people who are on a real tight budget, or only listen to music in a dark basement room where the beautiful veneer simply won't be appreciated, the Decorator Razz may be just the ticket.

What do you guys think of this? Send me an email and let me know.

For those of you who can afford to buy one of the finest sounding horn speakers on the market today, I have added a beautiful set of Rival Special Edition speakers, veneered in Rosewood, to our stock. Choose the cloth you would like on the grills and buy these before the price increase.
