Public Workshop to Discuss $10 Million Downtown Revitalization Initiative Grant

The first Public Workshop to discuss the $10 million revitalization grant the City recently received will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, June 11, in the Auditorium on the 2nd Floor of the White Plains Public Library, 100 Martine Avenue.


White Plains was awarded $10 million in funding as the Mid-Hudson Region winner of the seventh round of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) to revitalize the downtown neighborhood (“The Heart of White Plains”). Please join us to share your thoughts on revitalization opportunities downtown and to learn more about the DRI Program. An Open Call for Projects will begin on June 29. Light refreshments and Spanish translation services will be provided.

White Plains Speed Limit Reduced to 25 MPH

In May the City of White Plains Transportation Department started installing new signs indicating the new citywide 25 miles per hour speed limit. The lower speed limit will make city streets safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.


The new 25 MPH speed limit will not apply to:

  • Bryant Avenue
  • Central Avenue
  • Central Westchester Parkway
  • Mamaroneck Avenue
  • North Broadway
  • North Street
  • Old Mamaroneck Road
  • Tarrytown Road
  • Westchester Avenue
  • White Plains Avenue

White Plains Outdoor Arts Festival - June 1 & 2

The White Plains Outdoor Arts Festival has brought diverse displays of fine arts and crafts to tree-lined Tibbits Park in the heart of bustling White Plains for 60 years.


Paintings, photography, ceramics, glasswork, jewelry, textiles, and much more will be on display at the free event open from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, June 1st and 2nd.



The festival is a great place to experience art and shop for one-of-a-kind gifts, jewelry, and home decor. The event also features emerging artists, the artwork of scholarship winners, a free children's art workshop, and unique food vendors.

WP Farmers Market Is Open Every Wednesday

Visit the New Battle Hill Pollinator Habitat

The Battle Hill Pollinator Habitat on Tarrytown Road is the first of its kind in Westchester County. The city transformed a once bare 1.47-acre area across from the Metro-North station into a sustainable public space. It serves as a shelter and habitat for hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and more.

It's Kayak Season at Liberty Park


Kayaking is permitted on beautiful and peaceful 22-acre Silver Lake at Liberty park every day until October 13. Permits for launching your own kayak must be purchased from the Rec Department - $10 for one day, $50 for season pass. Get a permit from the Rec & Parks office at 85 Gedney Way.

Juneteenth Parade & Festival Saturday, June 8

Juneteenth is the oldest known event marking the end of slavery in the United States.


The White Plains Juneteenth Parade & Festival returns to Downtown White Plains on Saturday, June 8. There will be food, fun, and entertainment, as well as community services, for the whole family.


Parade -- Steps off on Mamaroneck Avenue at 11:00 am. Honorees are 2024 Grand Marshal Kenneth Chamberlain Jr., White Plains Hospital, African American Men of Westchester, and Sheran Lyons and Karen Thomas Jenkins for their continued commitment to preserve our legacy of celebrating Juneteenth in White Plains for 20 years.

Gardella and Kittrell Pools Open for the Season

The City of White Plains maintains two public pools for residents to enjoy -- Kittrell Park and Pool on Fisher Avenue and Gardella Park and Pool on Ferris Avenue. Pools will open for the weekends beginning June 15 and daily June 28 through August 24. City residents only, current season pool passes are required. Both pool facilities are accessible and are equipped with lifts. Kittrell Pool has a zero-depth entry. For additional information please click on Gardella and Kittrell Pool information.
