Port St. Lucie Boulevard South
In March 2024, the contractor continued to mill and remove existing and temporary asphalt on Port St. Lucie Boulevard from Gatlin to Darwin in the median area as part of the PSL Blvd South, Segment 3 City Managed Project. The contractor removed the existing subgrade and base on Port St. Lucie Boulevard from Gatlin to Darwin for reconstruction. Other activities included the installation of pipe rail, installing thrust block and completing median drainage crossings. The contractor anticipates shifting northbound traffic again in April / May, weather permitting. The contractor opened the newly installed sidewalk to pedestrian traffic on the west side of the roadway. Intermittent sidewalk closures are anticipated on the east side while construction takes place in this area.
Simultaneously, the PSL Blvd South, Segment 2.1 FDOT Managed Project saw advancements, including installing stormwater drainage pipes, lateral ditch excavation, pond excavation work, stormwater drainage work at Alcantarra Blvd. and Tunis Ave. as well as removal of the existing force main pipe between SW Alcantarra Blvd. and Thrift Ave. In April, the contractor anticipates installing a watermain pipe, force main, and stormwater drainage. The contractor will continue excavation of the pond and canal. They also anticipate starting temporary widening construction to implement the traffic shift to facilitate southbound widening work. Traffic signal components continue to be installed at signalized intersections.
Tradition & I-95 Turn Lane Extension
The westbound right turn lane extension on SW Tradition Parkway at SW Village Parkway is nearing completion and is ahead of schedule. The contractor recently applied the final lift of asphalt and temporary pavement markings. Thermoplastic pavement markings, known for their enhanced safety, durability, and cost-effectiveness will soon be installed, making the project officially complete, surpassing its original Fall 2024 deadline.
Torino Parkway
A roundabout will replace an existing four-way stop at East Torino Parkway and Turtle Dove Lane. The roundabout will provide sidewalk connections as well as a school bus pick-up and drop-off with sidewalk connection.
In addition to this project will be extended turn lanes at Torino and Midway to accommodate periods of heavy traffic.
A redesign was necessary for this project. The approved construction plans were received on March 21. The contractor is reviewing and providing an updated schedule for construction to begin.
