Dear Bronxville Families,

It is with great excitement that I share with the Bronxville School community that I have recommended to our Board of Education that Mr. Anthony Vaglica will be appointed as our next 6-12 Assistant Principal.  

Ms. Meyer and Mr. Mercora led a comprehensive search that included students, parents, teachers, pupil personnel, and administrators. We received over 150 resumes which resulted in five finalists. Each of the five candidates spent a morning at the School, rotating through groups of students, parents, teachers, and pupil personnel, each led by an administrator. All candidates also completed a spontaneous writing sample based on a prompt we created. I share all this information because it was only after this comprehensive search that it became exceedingly clear that the strongest and best suited candidate was within our ranks already, even though he didn’t apply.

Mr. Vaglica earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Concordia College, a Master of Arts and an Educational Leadership Professional Diploma from Manhattanville College. He has served in various capacities within our District since 2006 with a brief two year hiatus at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua. Mr. Vaglica’s strengths include his ability to forge strong relationships with all constituents and create positive experiences for teachers and students. He has been an outstanding Assistant Principal in our Elementary School and is ready to generalize his deep skill set to our secondary schools. Mr. Vaglica has been innovative to help ensure that the students’ have positive experiences while strengthening their social, emotional, and academic profiles. He is a powerful partner to educators and parents which inevitably results in better outcomes for students.  

I recognize that this may feel like a loss for our Elementary School. I am commencing a search immediately for our next ES Assistant Principal, and I’m confident we will find another outstanding administrator to partner with Ms. Adams and the teachers. We are fortunate to have Elementary School teachers that are unmatched in their expertise, compassion, care, and dedication to our students, parents, and each other. I will lead the search and will have a representative group of teachers on the search committee (as well as Ms. Adams, parents, and administrators).
