Welcome Back!

During the first 6 months of operation, the Behavioral Health Help Line received 20,693 calls, and 6016 texts and chats. The majority of Help Line users were connected to non-emergency outpatient care. The website received more than 45,000 visits. We are making a difference!

DMH is again sponsoring Audacy radio’s “I’m Listening” World Suicide Prevention Day programing. On Sept. 20, Commissioner Doyle will be a featured speaker on the show. This gives DMH another opportunity to reach people in need of support. The show airs on MIX, MAGIC and EEI radio. We’ll keep you posted on air times.

DMH NEWS

Juneteenth Events in the Southeast

The DMH Southeast Area held five Juneteenth events across the area throughout the month of June. The site offices each had their own planning groups, and planned their event. Each event had elements such as singing of the Black National Anthem, poets, bands, Juneteenth Jeopardy, art, and delicious food. The dynamic Journey Through Black American History poster exhibit also traveled to each event. Thank you to Area Director Sue Plasse for embracing events across the area, to Percy Lewis for spearheading the planning and emceeing, and to all staff who planned and participated in these wonderful celebrations!

Annual Backpack Drive

The Metro Boston Area hosted their annual backpack drive for children returning to school. Donating backpacks, school supplies, and participating in the Family Wellness event showed a strong commitment to the well-being and education of local children and families. The Family Fun event in Roslindale hosted on August 11th by the Home for Little Wanderers, with the support of DMH, was a resounding success! The collaborative efforts across the Metro Boston sites and facilities, resulted in a donation of 83 backpacks and various school supplies. A local printing company that partnered with the area for the recent NAMI Walk made an additional contribution of over 500 notebooks and writing tablets, and highlights the positive impact that community partnerships can have. DMH staff Kenneth Mack from the area office, Theresa McIntyre from CYF, Luciano Tellez from MMHC, and Vanessia Lynch from our Homeless Outreach Team participated in the event.
