Members of the Jaguar Nation—

Thank you for being a loyal season ticket holder! I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to write to you as the new Athletic Director of your Southern University Jaguars. As we begin our journey together, I want you to know that I am focused on enhancing our football program on the field, in the classroom and the community.

Uncompromised excellence is our culture, unparalleled success is the outcome. I have been fortunate in my past to run a successful men’s basketball program. I am aware of the commitment and hard work it takes to develop a championship program. Our team, under the leadership of Coach Dawson Odums, will continue this culture and our commitment will reflect it on the field and in the classroom.

The most successful college football programs are fueled by the energy and enthusiasm of their fans. Please help us ensure that we are playing in the Celebration Bowl in December 2017 by committing to being at games every Saturday this fall. Together, we will develop the best game day atmosphere in the SWAC!

Finally, I am honored to be here as your Athletic Director. As soon as news of the transition broke, people asked me why I would give up basketball to lead this department. The answer…to do my part to ensure the entire athletics department begins to thrive. The potential of this program and the excellence of this university and community is what will make it possible.

As your new Athletic Director I ask that you join me on this journey by purchasing your season tickets today. A packed stadium every Saturday fuels the team and is critical to our success in recruiting and on the field. We need you! Please visit GoJagSports.com or call 225.771.3171 today to show your support by purchasing season tickets.

Thank you again for the honor of serving as your Athletic Director. I look forward to seeing you in A.W. Mumford Stadium for the MEAC/SWAC Challenge on Sunday, September 3 rd !
Thank you and Go Jags!

Roman P. Banks
