Lifetime Achievement Award
Patricia Garcia, MD, MPH
"Pat is the embodiment of a medical educator and her work has left an indelible mark on Feinberg. From her time as leader of the problem-based learning curriculum, she has been an innovator and visionary, always bringing the newest advances in learning science to push the curriculum forward for our students and for our faculty. Pat spearheaded the curricular reform which led to the implementation of a modern, integrated and multifaceted curriculum which focuses on early authentic clinical experiences, inquiry-driven learning and evidence-based teaching and learning methodologies. Throughout her time as Associate Dean for Curriculum she remained a passionate clinician educator working directly with students in her outpatient clinical practice and on labor and delivery. For these and the multitude of contributions to the FSM curriculum, we honor Pat with a Lifetime Achievement Award."

Program Announcement
The MS-HPE is a two-year executive program intended for professionals who have already obtained a degree in a health professions field. The program will be offered in a hybrid format, with the majority of content being offered virtually. Coursework for the program will be taught by our world class Feinberg faculty and cover Curriculum Development, Introduction to Education Research, Learning Theory, Statistics, Assessment, Qualitative Research, Educational Technology, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity, and Belonging.
At two points during the first year of the program and twice again during the second year, students will be invited to our beautiful downtown Chicago campus to participate in four-day intensive residencies. These residencies will allow students to delve further into course topics and gain knowledge in specialized subjects, such as mastery learning. The final residency will bring students together in Chicago to present their capstone projects, which will be a culmination of their work, mentored by Feinberg faculty.
To learn more about this new program - visit the MS-HPE website or contact mshpe@northwestern.edu.
