Christmas on the Common & Christmas Parade!
The 39th annual Christmas on the Common event, hosted by the Kiwanis Club, brought festive cheer to East Bridgewater from Thursday, November 30th, through Saturday, December 2nd. This multi-day event featured many activities, including the lighting of the common, Christmas parade, and a bustling holiday craft fair.

As the community gathered to celebrate, the event was captured on video, which is now available for viewing on East Bridgewater Community Access. The Christmas parade showcased a wonderful display of floats, marching bands, and happy participants spreading cheer along the route.
The centerpiece of the event, the lighting of the common, created a magical atmosphere for all in attendance. Families and friends came together to witness the lighting, marking the official start of the holiday season in East Bridgewater!

Adding to the festivities, the holiday craft fair provided an opportunity for attendees to explore unique and handcrafted treasures.

A big thank you to The Kiwanis Club and the Christmas Parade Committee and everyone else who made these events possible!

East Bridgewater Master Plan Survey
The Town of East Bridgewater needs your help!

Old Colony Planning Council (OCPC) and East Bridgewater are creating a Master Plan. A master plan is a guide for local public policy and guides projects and initiatives the town would like to work on over the next decade or longer. The creation or update of a master plan allows communities a chance to communicate between local government and residents to reflect on the towns strengths, weaknesses, and change over time. It allows residents to express their wants, needs, and hopes for the community.

For more Information and the Survey, see the
Friends of the East Bridgewater Library Membership Drive

The Friends play a big role in enhancing our library experience by funding programming, purchasing materials, and contributing to the library's infrastructure. Their support even extends to the development of the new Connie Ryan Love Teen Zone on the second floor. And your support is vital to these endeavors, and any amount is truly appreciated. For a tax-deductible donation of $20.00 or more, you'll receive a FREE Friends of the East Bridgewater Library snappy Cooler Bag, available for pick-up at the Library Circulation Desk. The library will also be selling ornaments, and the proceeds will further benefit library programming. Thank you for being a Friend of the East Bridgewater Library! Climate Can Do: Recycling Trees & Electronics

While there is much to celebrate this time of year, it's important to remember that these times also generate more waste than usual. As we approach the holiday season, let’s take a moment to consider all the ways we can be more environmentally friendly.

Recycling Christmas Trees
If you are buying a real Christmas tree this year, please remove the tree of all decorations like tinsels, ornaments, metal rings and do not cover the tree in plastic bags when throwing them out. Some towns recycle natural Christmas trees into mulch that can be used for municipal landscaping projects. Please take a moment to clear your trees before tossing them out!
In East Bridgewater, Residents can bring trees to the Recycle Center or have your trees picked up by BSA Troop 29. (Details from the Scouts in the coming weeks) The Recycle Center, at 877 Bridge St, is open the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month from 8:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.. Residents need a green recycle center sticker to enter – they can be picked up at the DPW office at 49 Dean Place or call at 508-378-1620 to have one mailed out to you. The Recycle Center is available to all residents enrolled in our trash and recycling program. It is also available to residents who are not in the program for a fee of $150.00 per year.

Recycling Electronics
Did you received a new phone or tablet during the holidays? Consider recycling your old electronics instead of throwing it out. Any Staples store accept old electronics everyday. Check out the Staples website for the list of electronics they accept. Below are some Staples locations in the area:
  • 600 S ST W, Raynham
  • 500 Westgate Dr, Brockton

Let's Have A Great Cheer For The Team & The Turkeys!
"EBJSHS won another state title. Congrats to the EBJSHS Cheerleaders who won the Division 3 State title on Sunday at Worcester State College, with a score of 93.4! This was their 9th state title lead by Coach Matt Monteiro and his assistant Ava Royal. The team also qualified for Nationals in Orlando. Coach Monteiro also just happens to be an EB alumni as well as a police officer on our Police Department!"

"In the pouring rain and wind, SRO Connor and K9 Morgan, Sgt. Voisine, Detective Cacciatore and K9 Officer DeJesus and K9 Thor along with the help of 6 EBJRSRHS students delivered 29 Thanksgiving meals to families in need. These meals were paid for by the Guns N' Hoses and other donations from the Police and Fire Departments."

Great work All!

A Light in the Darkness

“Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark.” ~ Rabindranath Tagore

“In the darkest skies, we see the brightest stars.” ~ Richard Evans

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

“Look at how a single candle can both defy and define the darkness.” ~ Anne Frank

Or sometimes, we must accept what is, and that brings us peace...

"If light is scarce, then light is scarce; we will immerse ourselves in the darkness and there discover its own particular beauty." ~ Junichirō Tanizaki, In Praise of Shadows
Here we are in darkness, the shortest days. We can shine and twinkle brightly, or immerse in the darkness and find the beauty it. Either is magical.
~ Jacquie
