Dear St. Luke’s Cathedral community,

After much prayer and discussion with my family and colleagues I have come to the conclusion that it is time for me to end my time as Associate Priest at St. Luke’s

Cathedral. I will conclude my ministry at the end of June, therefore my last Sunday with you will be June 30th.

St. Luke’s has been an incredibly important part of my spiritual, social, and personal life ever since my family first began to worship here almost 20 years ago. This community supported me through the discernment and ordination process and then welcomed me as a newly ordained priest. I will never forget the kindness, love, and encouragement that I have received over the many years that I have called St. Luke’s my spiritual home, but now it is time that I move on to new challenges in God’s mission field.

Even though I will be stepping away from the altar, you might still see me on the

Cathedral campus and at Loring House. For the past year I have been working as the Officer for Transition and Deployment for the Diocese of Maine. Once I have finished my duties at the Cathedral I will be spending more time in that role (and spending more Sundays on the road!) while helping parishes navigate their transition between clergy. I am very excited to have this opportunity to serve the church in a new way.

St. Luke’s will always have a special place in my heart, and I will miss seeing all of you on Sunday mornings. Please know that my prayers are with you on your spiritual journey, and I hope that I can count on your prayers for me as I step forward in faith into my next chapter with God.

Much love,

The Reverend Suzanne Roberts M.D., Associate Priest

A Note about Thanking the Reverend Suzanne Roberts

Dear Friends-

I join with all of you in expressing my deep appreciation for Suzanne’s ministry to the Cathedral. Over her many years of service, she has graciously shared her many gifts with this congregation. While we are sad to see her go, we are delighted that she will be able to share her gifts and ministry with the many parishes of the Diocese of Maine.

In order to thank Suzanne for her dedicated care and service to our community, our service on Sunday, June 30 will include a Liturgy of Leave-taking followed by a festive coffee hour reception, in which we will offer our blessings for the next chapter of her ministry.

If you would like to participate in preparations for the celebration please contact the parish office via email.

Blessings,

The Reverend George Stevens, Interim Dean
