A Fantastic Fall Event...

And Heartfelt Kudos to All Who Helped!

What an incredible turnout we had for Camp Fire Central Oregon's 2nd Annual Autumn Family Faire!

The weather was a perfect backdrop to this truly homegrown event, which attracted not just people in Bend but at least as far as Portland, who appreciated the games, crafts, activities and raffle, plus the many volunteers, staff and community partners who helped make it possible!

Speaking of raffles, we want to thank all our ticket buyers and winners, and, of course, we so appreciate our generous prize donors:

Bend Parks and Rec • Bend Rock Gym • Blockbuster • Bronwen Jewelry • High Desert Museum • Leaping Lizards •

Old Mill District • Star Cycle • Suzanne Landry (Chef) • The Bend Store • Tula Movement Art • Ponderosa Players • Ida's Cupcakes • Camp Fire • Mountain Supply • Suttle Lodge

We're giving BIG Camp Fire "high fives" to all the teens and volunteers who donated their time, Sparrow Bakery and Pizza Mondo for feeding our volunteers, Bouncing off the Walls for jumpy castle fun, and Kona Ice for snow cones and Sopa Tacos for tacos! (If we missed someone, please know you ARE appreciated!) The faire turned out to be a true community spectacular!

(Want your family to volunteer Friday with your teen?

Ask us how: zafiro@campfireco.org!)

As Zafiro Larsen, our teen program manager, says, "The holiday season tends to revolve around receiving gifts, but we believe that joy lies in the gift of service to the community. It's always important to create connections whether it's across nations or across the street. There is always someone who is in need of connection."

An oft-forgotten trait of a strong leader is the ability to lead through service. Leaders who prioritize and are in touch with the needs of a community gain wisdom to lead with clarity. How best for our young leaders-to-be to begin practicing this skill than serving Bend and the surrounding communities? Join us for these upcoming events!

Central Oregon Health Council 'Amplifies Impact' of Current Grants,

Thanks to $200K in Matching Funds!

In Fall 2023, Camp Fire Central Oregon learned the incredible news that Central Oregon Health Council has awarded our organization $2o0,000 in grant funds, specifically designed to match several other grants Camp Fire recently received. The funds are intended to amplify the impact of those grants' goals and strategies, boosting the odds of achieving youth program objectives and initiatives.

These funds will support broader access to school-year and summer out-of-school learning through financial assistance, increased staff, expanded free and low cost STEM and teen programs, and new equity initiatives. Funds will also support our continuous efforts to implement new curriculum and improve the quality of all of our programs.

The Health Benefits of Camp Are Real...

OHP Flex Funds Info Sheet

Is your child experiencing a physical or behavioral health condition that might improve with the experience of camp?

Any member enrolled in a PacificSource Community Solutions Coordinated Care Organization plan is eligible for flexible services. If enrolled and with your health care provider's help, your child may be eligible for Flex Funds, covering camp registration fees.

But don't delay! The recommendation is to begin the approval process with your provider two to three months in advance of camp registration, which, for Camp Fire Central Oregon takes place in early to mid-winter 2024. If you feel this opportunity may benefit you, make sure to book your appointment with your provider ASAP!
