A message from our Executive Director

“I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.” Maya Angelou

Dear Friends,

Tis' the Season for Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy to express its gratitude for all of the enthusiastic support of our donors and community partners who've helped us serve more than 1700 patients with $2.9 million dollars worth of live-saving prescription medications! And speaking of which, we are especially proud of our chief pharmacist, Mrs. Annie Daniels, who graces the cover of the latest edition of Alabama Pharmacy magazine! We're also grateful to AT&T's Glyn Agnew and Cleo Washington, whom Ozanam recently honored with the Jonathan Gardberg Award. Also, our staff and volunteers gathered for a delightful holiday luncheon, and a "not so" Ugly Sweater contest to kick-off the holiday season. May your holiday seasons also be merry and bright!

Warm regards,
Shearie Archer

AT&T Receives the 2019 Jonathan Gardberg
Community Leadership Award
Each year, the Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy Board of Directors recognizes members of the community who assist with moving Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy's mission forward of providing medication to the poor and uninsured with a special award. This award is named after Mr. Jonathan Gardberg because Mr. Gardberg exemplifies the spirit of Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy namesake Frederick Ozanam. Like Frederick Ozanam, the founder of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, Mr. Gardberg, now retired, was an attorney helping the sick and disabled with his social security and veterans' disability practice. Also, like Frederick Ozanam, Mr. Gardberg did not just stand by and watch the poor suffer. Mr. Gardberg supports Ozanam with fundraising, helping to establish the agency's first newsletter, and promoting Ozanam Pharmacy in the community to bring awareness to individuals who require medication. It is compassion like this that created the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. This year's recipient of the Jonathan Gardberg Community Leadership Award is A T and T for being instrumental in helping Ozanam Pharmacy expand pharmacy services to Washington County. Receiving the award are two great supporters of Ozanam Mr. Glyn Agnew, Regional Director A T and T Alabama and Mr. Cleo Washington, Chief of Legislative Affairs A T and T Alabama.

Mr. Agnew accepted the award on behalf of A T and T. Both Mr. Agnew and Mr. Washington have shown great support to the mission this year. Mr. Agnew has supported our mission by attending our events and checking on the Pharmacy throughout the year. Mr. Washington has stopped by and spent time with the Executive Director to discuss ways to connect more with the community. Both gentlemen have given their time, talent, and resources to the mission. Today, the Pharmacy is making steady progress in Washington County and delivering life-sustaining medication to our most vulnerable population. We could not continue our mission without the support of our outstanding partners from the A T and T," explained the Executive Director of Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy, Shearie Archer.
