A Dispatch from Lakeside

Dear Ginghamsburg Family,

While visiting Lakeside Chautauqua in the summer of 2016, I woke up very early one morning and walked three miles to the Marblehead Lighthouse. As the sun rose over the lake and filtered through the trees, I captured this amazing photo on my iPhone. The scripture that came to mind was 2 Corinthians 4:6, "For God, who said, ‘Let there be light in the darkness,’ has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ."

This weekend, I am representing Ginghamsburg Church as “The Preacher of the Week” at Lakeside Chautauqua along the beautiful shores of Lake Erie. I will teach/preach six times over five days. I have spent dozens of hours preparing for this. Hundreds of people will attend these renewal services. Thank you for holding the Lakeside community in prayer. This is a BIG weekend here at home as well. Everything begins tomorrow, Saturday, June 8 at 10am at the Tipp City campus with worship and hospitality training called, “The Expand Conference.” Then on Sunday, June 9, Pastors Fitz & Karl will kick off our new summer worship series “I Have A Friend Who…” with a message entitled, “...Who is Searching for Something.” From Noon to 2pm that same day will be the Blessing of the Bikes! Kids and adults are encouraged to bring anything with wheels (bikes, strollers, scooters, skates, rollerblades etc.) to the Avenue to be prayed over for a safe and fantastic summer. All kids will get a fun Ginghamsburg Kids #blessed sticker to put on their bikes or helmets. There will be some activities for kids, Kona Ice, and even food available for lunch in the Avenue.

The motto of my home church (Zanesville Central Trinity UMC) is “May the Light of Christ be found on our journey of faith.” The photo of the Marblehead Lighthouse reminds me of this prayer. May it be so this week! For a new day is dawning and God is making all things new.

Keep Shining the Light!
