A Closer Look at Keynote Speaker

   Craig Deao, MHA

   Studer Group

   _______________________________________________

Session Title:  How to Change the Culture

of an Organization

Summary:

Culture eats process improvement for lunch. This session will share the practical tips Studer Group has learned over the past 13 years related to culture change, lessons learned by firsthand experience shepherding our own culture and coaching more than 900 healthcare organizations to achieve their missions.  As a result, we've become highly attuned to the factors that predict sustainable successes and those that relegate improvement efforts to "flavor of the month" status.  Is your organization on the path to success?

Participants will learn:

  • Why transformation efforts usually fail to produce sustainable results.
  • The system of Evidence-Based Leadership that aligns goals, behaviors and processes.
  • Specific guidance for developing an objective leader evaluation system, a pre-requisite for a culture of accountability.

Craig's Bio:

Craig Deao has been a member of the senior executive team for Studer Group since 2006.  He is also a sought-after national expert and speaker on topics related to leadership, accountability, patient experience, quality and safety.  In addition to his fulltime work with Studer Group, he has served as faculty for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and dozens of healthcare systems across the US and Canada.  He is also an accomplished author. Craig has been published in Trustee magazine and he co-authored the 2011 article of the year in the Journal of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy.  Craig served as one of the key leaders of Studer Group's Baldrige journey and now spends most weeks inside of healthcare organizations working with boards, medical staffs and executives to help architect their own journeys to excellence.
