A Closer Look at our Featured

Keynote Speaker

Paul Grizzell

President and Baldrige Coach

Core Values Partners, Inc.

                    ______________________________________________

Session Title:  "From 'Have To' to 'Want To': Moving from a Culture of Compliance to One of Excellence."

Summary:

Organizations that are meeting compliance and certification requirements are frequently attaining minimum standards of performance that meet regulatory requirements, but deliver no competitive advantage.  Organizations that are focused on business excellence go beyond minimum standards, developing processes that ensure customer and employee engagement and sustainable improvement in results.

Participants will learn:

  • The difference between compliance and excellence

  • The role of leadership in achieving performance excellence

  • The foundational elements of a performance excellence initiative

  • The alignment of various performance improvement initiatives such as Lean and Six Sigma with Baldrige

  • The key drivers of success in implementing a Baldrige performance excellence initiative.

Content Description:

This presentation helps the leaders of organizations understand the "Why?" of a performance excellence initiative.  An effective performance excellence initiative begins with leadership commitment to a culture of excellence, characterized by the Baldrige "Core Values."  If an organization aspires to be represented by a set of values similar to the Baldrige Core Values, then the Baldrige Criteria are a road map to help them get there.

But a commitment to excellence does not drive improved results - action must take place.  How does an organization know what actions to implement?  The Baldrige Criteria help an organization focus, align, and accelerate their business excellence initiatives.

The presentation will be applicable to any industry: manufacturing, service, small business, health care, non-profit, or education.

Bio:

Paul Grizzell is President of Core Values Partners, Inc., a consulting firm that helps organizations focus, align, and accelerate their performance excellence efforts through effective use of the Baldrige Criteria.  Paul focuses on helping organizations identify and address their Strengths and Opportunities for Improvement in a manner that drives performance improvement.  He has helped many Baldrige- and state quality award recipients on their performance excellence journey.

Paul has been involved with Baldrige-based performance improvement for 18 years. He is an Alumni Examiner on the Baldrige Award Board of Examiners and helps train Baldrige Examiners.  He serves as a Judge for the Performance Excellence Network (the quality award program for South Dakota, North Dakota, and Minnesota), the Illinois Performance Excellence Award, and the American Health Care Association Quality Award.  He is also an Assessor and Licensed Advisor for the European Quality Award.  He has been a keynote speaker at multiple international performance excellence conferences.

Paul has worked with many organizations that are state and national Baldrige Award recipients.  Paul is a contributing author to Insights to Performance Excellence, An Inside Look at the Baldrige Award Criteria, published by the American Society for Quality.
