Through Your Eyes On Christmas Eve is Abney Parks orginal Christmas song. The idea came to us one day, when Josh was telling me about all the difficulties of feeling festive on Christmas as you get older. You lose faith in so many things it becomes hard to feel Christmas. I told him thats why I liked having childern: you can see Christmas through their eyes, and feel all the joy of being a kid and Christmas again.
Then Josh came up with the idea of turning that into our first original Christmas song, so Kristina, Josh and I sat down around Kristina's piano and wrote this song:
Through Your Eyes On Christmas Eve
By "Captain" Robert Brown, Josh Goering, and Kristina Erickson
I look through your eyes and see
innocence they stole from me.
Christmas lights, and candy canes,
Santa tugging on reindeer's reigns.
The son of god, and good will toward man,
Through your eyes I believe I can,
chorus:
All the things I have out grown,
Through your eyes again I'm shown.
See things I lost the fight to believe.
Through your eyes on Christmas eve.
You've given Christmas back to me
Through the innocence of your eyes I see.
Ghosts of Christmas past and present,
Past the families flaws unpleasant.
Past the dark and scary night,
To laughter in the morning's light.
I fear when you are grown and gone,
and all alone I'll sing this song.
no toys, or dolls or other things,
when grass grows under our backyard swings.
But if my child one day you bring,
your own small children, then I will sing! |
PLEASE TELL US IF YOU LIKE THEM!

"It reads like a biography and flows like a swashbuckling tale of unexpected adventure. The Wrath of Fate takes the music of Abney Park and tells the tale that inspired each melody. Woven through it all is the encouragement, the motivation, that took a broken hero and gave him sails.
An epic fable of an accidental Captain and the crew who live doing what they love".
