NEWSPRING ART EXHIBIT AT AYAM

We will be hosting the Newspring Student Art Exhibit for the entire month of September. Come out and support our local student artists!

As we are on an SBISD campus, our doors must remain locked at all times. When you stop by, you will need to ring the doorbell.

ADULT ART WORKSHOPS

We have 8 different days set aside for adult workshops this year.

If you have never been to one of our workshops, this is the perfect year to begin! We set aside 3 hours for anyone 15 and older to come in, learn about an art technique and then create! We provide the majority of the material!

The cost for our workshops is $10 per participant, to cover the cost of materials and staffing.

We ask that you reserve your spot if you plan to come, so that we can make sure to have enough materials and staff on hand.

Register for our 1st workshop here.

ART PROGRAMS FOR KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 2ND GRADE

kids_with_art_supplies.jpg

This year, we will be providing art programs for all Spring Branch ISD elementary schools, grades K-2.

Kindergarten will have the opportunity to have us come to their school, read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and do a fun art project based on the book. The lesson that we do covers sequencing, fine motor skills (cutting, gluing and drawing), and math skills (symmetry).

1st grade will also have the opportunity for us to visit. We read the story Dream Carver by Diana Cohn. We teach the students how to create paper alejibres, while working on the following skills: listening, responding, fine motor (cutting, gluing and drawing), and sequencing.

2nd grade comes to the museum for a fine arts field trip. While here, each student learns about sculpture. The skills that the 2nd graders learn are: listening, following directions, sculpture vocabulary, looking for information, probelm solving, and reading.

As retired teachers, we understand the amount of material that students need to learn each year. We try very hard to incorporate as many TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) as possible to facilitate the teachers in this.
