Toolkit: Arts Advocacy Basics
Advocacy is about educating and informing elected officials, the public, and the media about the importance of the performing arts. Performing Arts Alliance created this toolkit that gives a great overview of the key things to get started in arts advocacy. PAA’s advocacy toolkit contains helpful information for connecting with lawmakers and building relationships that encourage their understanding of and commitment to our sector. The topic is broken into different segments covering contacting policymakers, legalities of lobbying as a nonprofit, what is grassroots advocacy, and more. This is a great tool if you want to begin your advocacy journey or make larger steps with working with policymakers.
