"I referenced La Tâche more than once in these reviews, and I don’t make that comparison lightly. These are brilliant wines." -Jeb Dunnuck
Dear friends,

Today's offer gives you our allocation of the new and incredible Pahlmeyer Wayfarer Pinot Noir and second label at the lowest prices in the country, along with 8 more American Pinots we strongly recommended.

Perhaps you already receive allocations of all the legendary California Pinots:

DuMOL, Sea Smoke, Rhys, ROAR, Pisoni, Kosta Browne, Selyem, Littorai, Aubert, Marcassin, Occidental, Paul Lato, Rochioli...

Or, perhaps not? Even if you've 'been there, done that', Wayfarer deserves your attention.

It doesn't make sense that Jayson Pahlmeyer's current passion project is seemingly under-the-radar. But let's not question it—if we do, prices will go up and allocations get tighter.
  • In the 70s Wayfarer off-the-grid organic farm supplied Alice Waters' Chez Panisse

  • The farm was up for sale in '98. Helen Turley quickly took notice and told her good friend Jayson Pahlmeyer to buy it. Her own vineyard, Marcassin, was next door. (Cult wine between $300-800, if you can even get any)

  • In '02, David Abreu would plant Pinot and Chard in what is still the only Sonoma vineyard he's ever done. (He's usually planting vineyards for Screaming Eagle, Harlan, stuff like that)

  • In 2005 Jayson Pahlmeyer would blend Wayfarer with RRV fruit to bottle Pahlmeyer Pinots. They were pretty massive during that time. The Pahlmeyer name/winery then sold in '19.

  • From 2012 to 2018. bad-ass winemaker Bibiana Gonzales Rave-Pisoni (yes, she married a Pisoni) would refine them into the gorgeous Wayfarer wines they are today.
Wayfarer The Estate Pinot Noir 2021
Fort Ross-Seaview, Sonoma Coast

96 Points - The Wine Independent:
The 2021 Pinot Noir The Estate is a blend of all the clones. Pale to medium ruby-purple in color, it prances out of the glass with fragrant notes of Bing cherries, fresh raspberries, and wild blueberries plus hints of red roses, cinnamon toast, and black tea. The medium to full-bodied palate has electric tension and impressive purity with very fine-grained tannins and a long vibrant finish. In 2021, the vineyard was clearly firing on all cylinders. These are some of the finest Pinots and Chardonnays coming out of Sonoma. Dirnk 2024-2032.

96 Points - James Suckling:
Very floral with hints of rose stems and hibiscus to the fresh ripe strawberry and citrus character. Medium to full body. Dried peach and orange peel flavors. Very long and intense. Lively at the end with lovely purity of fruit. Drink or hold.

95 Points - Robert Parker's WA:
The 2021 Pinot Noir The Estate (previously labeled "Pinot Noir Wayfarer Vineyard") has inviting aromas of cranberry sauce, mushroom, allspice and bitters. The palate's concentrated, nuanced fruit is structured by focused acidity and generous, powdery tannins, and it finishes with a flourish of spicy accents. It's drinking beautifully now and will develop savory complexity in bottle over the next decade.

94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
A deep ruby, the 2021 Pinot Noir The Estate is ripe and layered with an attractive perfume of cardamom, pure wild raspberry, and fresh sage. Medium-bodied, it expands with good length and concentration, its pure fruit is seamless throughout, and it has a fresh spine of acidity. Offering a lovely balance of fruit and freshness, with ripe tannins and a rocky texture, it should be drunk 2024-2034.

Boysenberry and cherry leap from the glass, with rose petal in their wake. The wine is seductive on the palate, with great density balanced by tart cranberry. A hallmark of coastal Pinot Noir, this vibrant tension lingers on the finish.
