The vintage as a whole is a long-awaited beautiful year full of wines returning to their graciousness. Jeb Dunnuck explains: “The 2021s from Napa can be thought of as possibly a mix of 2018 and 2016, or even an improved, more concentrated version of Napa’s 2001s. Given their tannic yet concentrated profiles, the 2021s from Napa remind me slightly of the 2010s from Bordeaux, if not 1989… The 2021s from Napa are ultra-classic, age-worthy wines that are well worth your time and money. I still believe 2016 and 2013 are the reference point vintages for the Valley, but 2021 is knocking on that door, and despite some lofty ratings in this report, I suspect they’ll seem conservative in 4-5 years.”

Creamy tannins tell a story of a layered and complex wine. Brilliant raspberry reduction, Rainier cherry, and cassis unfold in waves through the mid-palate to its impressive, well-tiered finish. It is a blend of 4 vineyards - 3 in the prestigious Oakville AVA (Turnbull, Fortuna, Leopoldina) and Amoenus in the Calistoga AVA.

"The appellation 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is a killer value that should be snatched up by readers. Ripe black fruits, roasted herbs, chocolate, and some spicy wood define the bouquet and it s full-bodied, has fine tannins, a glossy, layered texture, and outstanding length. It certainly has a modern edge, but is impeccably made. Enjoy bottles over the coming decade. Drink 2023 - 2033." (12/2023)

"The 2021 Napa Valley Cabernet from Turnbull is fantastic. It opens to perfumed aromatics of dark cherries and plums which are woven together with fresh cut flowers, toasted spices, tobacco and hints of dusted cocoa nuances all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this is continues to impress with its gorgeous velvety texture and beautifully polished, nicely integrated tannins, which lead up to the long finish. This certainly has the potential to evolve for a decade or longer, however it is already quite appealing in its youth."

"Turnbull has been turning out some terrific wines in recent years, and the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is not only excellent, but it also represents a great value.
