Hey Artisans!
We are pleased to present two classic Wine Spectator Top 100 Sauvignon Blancs hits: 2022 Groth from Napa Valley and 2022 Invivo X JSP from New Zealand. Both wines are regulars on this list—for a damn good reason.
Under legendary Napa Valley winemaker Nils Wenge, Groth has the unique and stellar distinction of being the first-ever American winery to receive a perfect 100-point rating from Robert Parker for their 1985 Reserve Cabernet.
Groth currently owns 165 acres smack in the middle of Napa's coveted Oakville AVA. Founded by Dennis and Judy Groth in 1982 and run today by their daughter Suzanne, Groth is known not just for their incredible Cabernet but for their beautiful Sauvignon Blanc as well! This wine has been regarded as one of Napa Valley's finest Sauvignon Blancs (as well as one of the most under-priced for the very high quality) for several DECADES. No corners are cut here, as prime Napa Valley vineyards are used and sur lie barrel fermenting and aging provides incredible complexity!
Inspired by the beautiful Bordeaux Blanc wines, Groth adds in 14% Semillon for intoxicating aromatics and to contribute roundness and weight to the mouthfeel, with just enough acidity to leave you craving another sip.
Meanwhile, Invivo & Co is one of New Zealand’s leading producers – they have won over 200 medals since they launched in 2008. Started by two friends, Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron, Winemaker Rob trained in wineries around the world, from Moldova, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Hungary to France, Spain and Italy. His approach to winemaking combines old world elegance with the best grapes he can lay his hands on, from New Zealand and around the world. But as Invivo winemaker Rob Cameron explains: “This wine is 100% Sarah Jessica Parker. So other than selecting the base wine from New Zealand (Sauvignon Blanc) I’ll be taking a back seat and let her create the blends.” Yup, this is a wine project of the famed actress Sarah Jessica Parker! The Invivo X SJP Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of five estates in Marlborough, spanning both Wairau and Awatere Valleys with vines ageing from three to eleven years. Sarah Jessica loved the intensity of style from the Waihopai Valley and has blended that with pure fruit aromatics from the Western Wairau and the power and purity found in the Westhaven Vineyard in the Dashwood. The Westhaven vineyard is one of the last blocks of Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough to be harvested and so has an extremely long season to develop flavor and power.
Both are delicious, super food-friendly and in stock now, so get yours today!
Cheers!
