The Morning Star Weekly Newsletter Vol 5, Edition 7 9/22/2020
Dear Morning Star Families and Friends,

I am happy to announce the addition of two new teachers to our faculty. Our new Primary 1 teacher is Austin Campbell. He comes to us with a BA in Psychology and a Master’s in Special Education. We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Campbell to the Primary 1 class and to Morning Star School. Our Intermediate Prep is a new class with a new teacher. Please welcome Ms. Nikki Szwedzinski (Ms. S to her students). Ms. Szwedzinski comes to us with a Master’s in Special Education. It is with pleasure I welcome Ms. Szwedzinski to our school. Ms. Kidd will now go back to being our Reading Interventionist. Please know that our goal is to continuously grow and improve Morning Star School for our students, families, staff, and community.

We are thrilled to announce that the new fitness center for the upper grades should be complete by the end of October, fingers crossed. And, our Building Campaign is also complete! Thank you to all the generous donors that made our high school dream come true. I would like to thank all the Morning Star families for supporting and cheering us on through this process. Lastly, we could not have accomplished this monumental task without Maria Johnson and Kerry Brophy, our development team.

We have a couple more weeks until the first nine weeks will end. It might be time to think about your child returning to brick and mortar learning. Remote learning is, and has been, the best way for some families, due to medical reasons, to keep the risk of COVID-19 to a minimum. We already have some students return to brick and mortar because remote learning, (though a blessing) was becoming too difficult of a learning environment for their child.
We will welcome any student back to brick and mortar, and continue to understand why some students need to remain remote learners until the end of December, as our Return to School Plan states. During this time of COVID- 19 I am here along with my staff and faculty to keep Morning Star students safe and healthy. I am proud to say that to date we have not had one student with COVID. This is due to hard work, set protocols, support of our families, and our amazing Morning Star students.

Thank you,
Elaine Shott, Principal
