Teamer Field Turf Repair - 9/15 CHS Football Game Moved to Harriton HS
During a routine safety inspection of the turf on Teamer Field today, several seams were found to be compromised following the recent replacement of the turf. In consultation with the manufacturer, the installer and District personnel, a decision was made to close Teamer Field until appropriate repairs can be made.
As a result, the Conestoga High School football game scheduled for Friday, September 15 versus Lower Merion has been moved to Harriton High School at 7pm.
All subsequent activities for the upcoming week will be relocated or rescheduled. Detailed information will be forthcoming from the Athletic Office. Updates will be made available on the Conestoga website.
The safety of our students and athletes remains paramount as we address these concerns as quickly as possible.

Thirty-four Conestoga High School Students Named National Merit Semifinalists
Thirty-four Conestoga High School students have been named National Merit Semifinalists. The students earned this recognition through their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Nationwide there are approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the scholarship program. They represent less than one percent of the nation's high school seniors. These students will go on to compete for over 8,000 scholarships through the National Merit Corporation or its sponsoring organizations. In addition, 25 seniors have been recognized by the College Board as National Merit Commended students, representing approximately the top four percent of graduating seniors nationwide. Congratulations to all of Conestoga High School's scholars.

TESD Students Help with Hurricane Relief
The T/E school community is working together to help provide relief to people affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Irma in Florida.
T/E Middle School and Beaumont, Hillside and New Eagle Elementary Schools adopted three classrooms in Texas and are sending 30 backpacks full of school supplies to three elementary schools: North Belt Elementary in Humble, Texas, Lamar Elementary in Baytown, Texas and Tavola Elementary in New Caney, Texas.
Devon Elementary fourth grade teachers, students and families collected close to 50 packages of diapers, 100 packages of wipes and $200 in donations for the Texas Diaper Bank. Keystone Exam Update - Keeping You Informed
Since 2008, TESD has been vocal in its opposition to Keystone Exams as a graduation requirement and continues to support a tradition of excellence that transcends performance on high stakes tests. Some community members have asked for current information about the status of Keystone Exams at the state level. The purpose of this message is to provide an update on what is happening in Harrisburg regarding these tests.
For all students in the classes of 2019 (current grade 11) and below, passing the Keystone Exams in Algebra 1, American Literature and Biology remains a state requirement for graduation.
Because the ability to earn a diploma is tied to proficiency on these exams, all students in grade 11 and below who do not achieve a score of proficient or advanced will be required to participate in remediation and retesting.
The legislature is considering two possible remedies. This past Spring, Senate Bill 756 (SB 756) was introduced with the goal of completely eliminating Keystone Exams, including all retests and graduation requirements. At the time, the Bill seemed to have legislative support, but passage has not occurred due to disagreement among legislators about other components of the bill. Therefore, SB756 is not likely to be passed at this time.
Another path being considered is to extend a moratorium to the class of 2019. This allows for one more year of consideration, but holds the graduation requirement in place for all students currently in grade 10 or below. We will update you should this moratorium be approved.
We will continue to keep our families informed as new developments occur regarding Keystone Exams as a graduation requirement. The District thanks the entire community for your continued support of the students of T/E.
