There is an old Adirondack joke that goes along the lines of...Adirondackers only lock their car when it's zucchini season, because if you don't, neighbors with an abundance of it growing in their garden will try and sneak a few overgrown zukes on your passenger seat if they see you out and about.


August 8th is "National Sneak Some Zucchini on Your Neighbor's Porch Day", which is a made up holiday that was created as a joke by some guy named Tom Roy in Pennsylvania.
