Raptors Start the New School Year!
It was great to welcome our new Raptors, as well as our returning Raptors, for the first day of school on Tuesday, August 13! It was a great start to the week! | CCSD Offers Family Resources on District Website
CCSD Families- as we start the school year, make sure check out the CCSD Family Resources page on the district website. There is plenty of helpful information available, with more on the way this month and throughout the year.
https://www.ccsdschools.com/2024-2025-family-resources
For example, click on the "PowerSchool Parent Portal" for tips and resources on setting up and managing your accounts. One resource on the "PowerSchool Parent Portal" help page is a simple document showing you how to access your student's schedule.

August 26: Last Chance for Yearbook/ID Photos |

Please mark your calendar and make sure your student has a photo taken on that day. Thank you!

Welcome Back Letters from Principal Perlmutter
Last Friday, Principal Perlmutter shared the fourth and final "welcome back" letter by email with AMHS families. These letters contain a wealth of helpful information for our Raptor families. In case you missed them, find them on the AMHS website at this link, and also linked below.
| AMHS School Bus Information |
As a county-wide magnet school, AMHS offers centralized (or parent assisted) bus transportation service. Bus stops are typically within five miles of a student's home. In a document at this link, you can find the AMHS bus stops, route numbers, and times. Additionally, the district’s bus stop look-up tool, bus stop guidelines, and Firstview app (Firstview code for CCSD: GF8G) are all tools that our families find useful. Visit the CCSD webpage on Transportation for more information.

The South Carolina Honors College at the University of South Carolina invites students to submit entries for the S.C. High School Writing Contest, which is open to South Carolina high school juniors and seniors in public, private and home schools. Students will submit written works addressing the topic question, “How should we improve the state of South Carolina?”
Submissions are welcome in all creative genres, including fiction, drama and poetry. USC also welcome straightforward essays and other kinds of writings – diary entries and letters, for example. After a student submits their work, about 20 finalists will be chosen. Finalists will have their work reviewed by the 2024 writing contest judge Carla Damron. The entries of finalists and winners will be showcased by the South Carolina Honors College on its website. Cash prizes of $1,000, $500 and $250 will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners. Learn more at this link. DEADLINE: MONDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2024.
