Altar Guild Thank You

The Altar Guild is a rewarding, yet often overlooked ministry. The Altar Guild volunteers are responsible not only for making your sanctuary a beautiful place to worship each and every Sunday, but also work behind the scenes to prepare the Eucharist and keep everything clean and sanitized. Each team works hard each week, under the expert guidance of Directress Robin Borok. A special thanks goes out to the team which prepared the church for the Bishop's visit this past Sunday, doing extra special tasks to make St. Luke's shine. If you know of someone who serves on the Altar Guild, be sure to convey your gratitude for their heart-felt work. And if you are looking to serve monthly in a wonderful ministry, contact Robin Borok for more information via the church office at info@slecp.org.

Farewell Cards for Rev'd Jack and Zibbie Wolter

If you were in church on Sunday, you would have heard that Father Jack and Zibbie Wolter left Prescott last weekend to live with their daughter . In lieu of saying good-bye, there are some farewell and thank-you cards in the Parish Hall for you to sign and send well-wishes to our friends. Please be on the lookout. Let's shower the Wolters with love.

It's Brenda Jones' Birthday this weekend!

Come help Brenda celebrate her 91st birthday with coffee, punch, and cake at an

at her home, located at 1817 Reading Lane, in Prescott.

Any questions can be directed to Jan at 480-322-4178. Hope to see you there!

Palm Sunday Weekend is the Ingathering of all our Gratitudes during Lent.

Bring your United Thank Offering box or envelope for the mission of the Episcopal Church. A basket will be in the back of the church for you to put your UTO offering as you enter the church.

UTO Prayer

Gracious God, source of all creation, all love, all true joy; accept, we pray, these outward signs of our profound and continuing thankfulness for all of life. Bless those who will benefit from these gifts through the outreach of the United Thank Offering and keep each of us ever thankful for all the blessings of joy and challenges that come our way; through Him who is the greatest gift and blessing of all, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen

A BIG SHOUT-OUT AND THANK YOU!!!

The Outreach Commision wants to thank the Village at Lynx Creek residents and The Flock Church members of Prescott Valley for stepping up to provide approximately 900 pounds of food for St. Luke’s Food Pantry when they were low on food. The Prescott Community Cupboard Food Bank also stepped up in donating additional food. The Food Pantry did not receive the Green Bag donation due to the snowy weather which is a great resource of food donations. The Pantry would not survive without consistant food donations from everyone. Please remember St. Luke’s Food Pantry when you are donating to Food Banks.

Youth Ministry Update

It was so wonderful having our Youth Ministry gang in church last Sunday. Thank you to Dan, Kaiti, Vaughna, and Megan for your help organizing the Easter Egg Hunt happening between services on Easter morning, March 31st

This Sunday, Palm Sunday, March 24 we will meet in the Youth Room at 9:10-9:50am to look at the last part of “Barbie and Bible Women”. Our topic this week is focusing on Outsiders, Truth-Bearers, and Mary MagdaleneTeens, please google Mary Magdalene and see what she is all about. She has a very interesting story.

Questions to think about…

1.     Who are the “weird” people in your life? How do you feel interacting with them? Did anyone “weird” have good news for you?

2.     When have you felt on the outside of a group?

3.     Why do you think God so often uses people who are outsiders?

Please bring in your signed Registration Form and Photo Release (see below).

Thanks, Lauree

Come Hike with Us!

Join Creation Care for a ramble up Granite Creek on Friday, March 22, at 11:00am. Depending on our enthusiasm it can be a one-way hike (1.5 miles) or an out and back (3 miles). Our destination is the Lazy G Brewery for lunch and fellowship. We will be talking about future hikes and growing our hiking club. This is a great way to connect with The Creator through his lovely Creation gifted to us and to take care of our bodies while building community. Meet at Granite Creek Park, 554 6th Street in Prescott, for a short hike up along the waterway to see the new mural and enjoy the lovely weather. You can park at the park or at the Staples parking lot to access the path to the park. Weather permitting.

RSVP with Rick Farr (360) 600-9237 so that we can reserve a table.

Fry's Quarterly Statement

There are 54 households now contributing to St. Luke's through their weekly grocery purchases, for at total of $95.89. Imagine how much we could raise if everyone participated in this fabulous program. If you are a Fry's customer, please stop by the business desk at your local Fry's Grocery Store to link your rewards card to St. Luke's. The money adds up fast, and all proceeds go directly to St. Luke's for use in ministry and operations. Thank you for giving!

Just Coffee Sales this weekend

"Just Coffee" will hold their weekly sale this Saturday and Sunday, March 24th. "Just Coffee" will return to its regularly scheduled sales the third week of April. Thank you for your support.

Welcome God’s Refrigerator Door and Next Meeting

You’ll notice in the Gathering Hall that a new Kate Carroll quilt has been hung. Her vision of what God’s Refrigerator Door might look like is quite humorous. Be sure to check out God’s To-do list.

And be sure attend March's meeting next Thursday, March 21, (and every Third Thursday) at 9:30 in Classroom C. Newcomers are always welcome and patterns and fabric are provided. Be sure to join us!

St. Luke's Offering Envelopes are Available

on the Welcome Table in the Gathering Hall

Pick up yours today. We did not spend the extra money to have them imprinted with your giving number, but if you would like, you can enter your giving number and/or name on the outside of the envelope before placing in the offering plate or "Joy" boxes at the back of the Sanctuary. This is especially important if you are giving cash. Thank you for giving!

Get involved at St. Luke's!

Diocesan News and Updates

Apply now for Episcopal Church 2024-2025 educational scholarships

Applications are being accepted for a wide variety of educational scholarships from The Episcopal Church for the 2024-2025 academic year. The deadline to apply online is April 15. All applicants must be Episcopalian.

The scholarships—derived from annual income of more than 45 trust funds established through bequests to The Episcopal Church—range from assistance for children of missionaries, bishops and clergy to individuals seeking theological education and training. The maximum award is $10,000 per student. For the 2023-24 year, 131 educational scholarships were awarded—from 186 applications received—for $390,216 to students from 51 dioceses and overseas Anglican partners.

At least nine of the scholarships are designated for Native American youth; others are specific to Black, Asian American, Chinese, and Hispanic students, as well as seminarians, among other listings. Applicants are encouraged to read the scholarship trust fund list and identify in their application those funds that best fit their situation.

Only complete applications will be considered. All applicants must have the endorsement of their Episcopal bishop. Applications are reviewed by a scholarship committee composed of representatives from the Episcopal Church Executive Council, the church-at-large, the Treasurer’s Office, and various other Episcopal Church ministries.

For more information, contact Ann Hercules, associate for grants and scholarships.

Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death-- even death on a cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:5-11
