ANNOUNCEMENTS

SmartPass ELECTRONIC PASS SYSTEM COMING TO SLPHS

SLPHS is excited to pilot SmartPass, an electronic pass system, during quarter 4.  The rollout of SmartPass at our school is driven by a commitment to maximize instructional time while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our students.  Additionally, SmartPass enhances safety measures, allowing us to monitor and manage access to our campus more effectively.  In the coming weeks, students will learn how to access this electronic pass system using their district issued Chromebook.  Stay tuned for more information.

PARENT PICK-UP

As we continue the 2nd half of the school year we would like to remind students and parents about student pick-up locations and overall safety reminders.

  • At no time should students be walking between buses.
  • No parent pick-up on 33rd street while buses are present.
  • Parent pick-up is located in parking lot by door #1
  • There is no parent pick-up at the door #15 athletic area. This allows SLP athletic buses to enter and exit safely.
  • Students should not be crossing the street (33rd Street or Dakota Ave) except at designated crosswalks.
  • Crosswalks locations:
  • Florida Ave & 33rd St.
  • Edgewood Ave & 33rd St.
  • Dakota Ave. & 33rd St.
  • Dakota Ave. & W Lake St.
  • There is no designated crosswalk at Dakota Ave. by the train tracks and it is a dangerous area to cross. Please remind students not to cross the street at this spot.

Minnesota Bilingual Seals

We are thrilled to announce an exciting World Language Department initiative.

Earlier this year, students who are not in AP or IB World Language classes had the opportunity to take a language test in their home or second language.

We want to celebrate and honor these students who showed their language proficiency in Spanish, French, German, Russian, Arabic, Somali, and Oromo.

Twenty-one of our students will earn a Minnesota Bilingual Seal or World Language Certificate upon graduation.

This is an official academic recognition that may allow students to earn college credit at MnSCU, access greater career opportunities, and qualify for pay differentials.

Seniors will be officially recognized at an awards ceremony on May 23 along with students who took the AP Spanish Language and Culture test in 2022.

More information about MN Bilingual Seals here.

CONFERENCES FEEDBACK

We are looking for feedback from all families about our spring conferences. Whether or not you attended any conferences, please consider filling out our spring conferences feedback form. We appreciate your support and feedback as we work to find the best format for offering future conferences.
