June 6, 2017      Finger Lakes Connected
My kids make fun of me that I memorized my credit card number but then it always comes in handy when you forget your purse. Plus, it is fun to see the look on the cashier's face when you rattle it off with the expiration and three digit code. See? There are still some remnants left over from my engineering days. I do love numbers!

"Caring Beyond Prescriptions"

1 in 5 Americans will develop Skin Cancer.
Sunscreen is an important tool to help protect you and loved ones from this cancer. Choosing the right sunscreen can help reduce the risk of skin cancer and early aging caused by the sun.
Use a broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher - broad spectrum means a sunscreen protects the skin from ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays, both of which cause cancer. One ounce of Sunscreen - enough to fill a shot glass is considered the amount necessary to cover the exposed parts of the body. Stop down to Canandaigua The Medicine Shoppe to pick up the sunscreen that is right for you.

We are located at 66 West Ave, just off of Main St. in Canandaigua. (585) 396-9970.

The artists are here! Look for their easels

Accomplished painters from across the U.S. and Canada have arrived in Canandaigua to paint the lakes, fields, streetscapes and other scenes Finger Lakes residents know so well.  These are plein air artists, a term for "open-air" painting. Look for their easels in parks and roadsides this week, then attend one of the special events to meet them and see their work.

Festival events start Tuesday, June 6, with exhibits by visiting artists in downtown Canandaigua storefronts for the duration of the festival. New to the festival this year is an expansion into Naples. Artists will paint along the Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail on June 7 with the public invited to a wet paint show and sale of the day's work at Hazlitt Red Cat Cellars on Route 21 in the village of Naples from 6 to 8 p.m.
The activity returns to downtown Canandaigua on June 8 with merchants holding receptions with the artists from 5 to 8 p.m. June 9 features a demonstration by the festival judge at the Canandaigua Country Club. The Quick Draw Competition for visiting artists in downtown Canandaigua and a competition for local and regional painters on Main Street is scheduled for Saturday, June 10

T he week's work will be judged and then displayed at a ticketed Preview Show and Sale at Sonnenberg Gardens on Saturday night from 6 to 9 p.m. On Sunday, June 11, the Sonnenberg exhibit opens free to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For more information or to get tickets to the June 9 demonstration and June 10 Preview Show, call (585) 394-0030, email to info@fingerlakespleinair.com  or visit www.fingerlakespleinair.com
