Creation Care connects community with nature

Our Creek Ramble last month with Creation Care was such a success we are doing another one! Meet us at Constellation Trail Head at 11am on May 4th for our next hike. There are so many options at this site that depending on who shows up, we can do anything from 1-3 miles on terrain ranging from flat beginner to a bit of rock scrambling. There is a fee for parking ($3) with full bathroom facilities. That's May 4, at 11:00am, people connecting with God's creation and our community here at St. Luke's. If you can't make if for this one, keep your eyes peeled for the next one. Please RSVP with Rick Farr, (360) 600-9237.

Thank you! Laura

CAMP GENESIS BACKPACK PROGRAM

Beginning April 13th, St. Luke's will be accepting donations for the Camp Genesis project. Many of you have seen the window display in the Gathering Hall and know about Camp Genesis– a place where kids ages 8 to 13, and 14-17, whose mother and/or father are incarcerated can enjoy a full week at Chapel Rock for free and have a fully loaded backpack to take home with them. St. Luke’s has been very generous in the past, and we invite you again to make donations to make Camp Genesis really special for these kids, either in the collection box in the Gathering Hall or as a designated donation in the offering plate, throughout April and May. The program has expanded to allow kids ages 14-17 to have this wonderful experience. Becky Hansen will be out in the Gathering Hall to talk more about Camp Genesis and answer any questions you may have. The kids thank you for making Camp Genesis possible.

Angel Quilts--Change of Meeting Date for April

"Moving toward Right Relations: Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery."

Six-Week Virtual Training

Arizona Faith Network is hosting a six-week virtual training on dismantling the doctrine of discovery. The first session will take place on April 22nd. This comprehensive program, created and led by Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery Coalition co-founder Sarah Augustine and co-facilitated by Sarah Hostetler and Repair Network Organizer Doe Hoyer, aims to guide participants in stepping into solidarity and building relationships with Indigenous people.

The training is designed to equip our faith leaders (especially clergy) with crucial skills such as identifying and questioning dominant culture assumptions, conducting power analysis, recognizing needs and how to meet them, and engaging in reflective practice. The program includes a pre-session exclusively for BIPOC participants starting on April 15, facilitating a more tailored and inclusive learning experience.
